    I must have missed where those articles stated that they would "surely beat the red sox". And if I was truly "butt hurt" I certainly wouldn't be in here surrounding myself with sox fans. I'll write you a note and flush it down my toilet, you should get it soon.

    I could possibly see popping the champagne after winning the LCS and of course the WS. Any other time is just silly to me. Unless maybe you are a team that has never done it before, but for the Yanks and the sox it should be "been there, done that".

    Not at all, we lost a playoff series. Would I have liked to win, sure. But we've lost them before and will lose them again. Hardly "butt hurt".

    Well, you would have to win it all before you could be deemed to have bought a ring this year. But, again, you don't need to be the top payroll team to be considered "buying" a ring.

    The Yanks were horrible during the latter part of the 60's till CBS sold them to the Steinbrenner group. What was known as the Horace Clark Era. CBS was not known for plowing money into the team. And again, you don't know, it's just your guess. And from the stats I could find in a quick search, from 1989-1998 the Yanks only had the top payroll twice ('94&'96), with the sox having a higher payroll several times over that span.

    One doesn't need to have the very top payroll to have their championship considered to be "bought".........
