  1. Because in moonunit's "realistic" view, sox players only have upside..........
  2. That remains to be seen..........
  3. Incorrect. https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2018/9/25/17880342/david-wright-contract-insurance-mets-retirement
  4. And if your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle........... Not to mention the Ruth era team only won 4 WS, so they would be "clinging" to 23, still more than 2X's the sox.......
  5. Red Sox: Catcher The Red Sox have a wide-open race for the starting catcher spot. Last year, the club carried three catchers for most of the season in Christian Vazquez, Sandy Leon and Blake Swihart. Vazquez and Leon essentially shared the position, with Swihart serving in more of a utility role. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski and manager Alex Cora are both on record as saying that arrangement is no longer sustainable. One of the three will likely get traded, leaving the other two to battle for the top spot. Swihart has the most offensive upside in the group, and seems to be far more in the mix to win the job than he was a year ago. Swihart has made significant improvement defensively in the last year thanks to exhaustive work with catching instructors Jason Varitek and Chad Epperson. Leon is the best defender of the three, but his bat went nearly silent last season. Vazquez is coming off a down year at the plate but has a cannon arm. The area he needs to improve most at is game calling. -- Ian Browne 2019 MLB Spring Training battles to watch WWW.MLB.COM As we get closer to the 2019 regular season, it's a good time to check in on position battles around MLB. 6. Incorrect. The Yanks have won 5 in both the last 30 and 40 years. Not to mention last century started out pretty good for the sox too and we all know how that worked out..........
  7. I think he will do whatever he can to collect that money.
  8. What teams made these offers?
  9. No deflection, just no need to respond otherwise regarding two maybes.......
  10. He ain't leaving that money on the table.......
  11. So if they sign sale and xander betts is a goner?
  12. i think it's cute that you guys have learned how to change font size..........
  13. Does that mean they expect to lose betts since they have talked extension with sale and xander and keeping all 3 is not realistic?
  14. I always thought it would have made more sense for the Rays to be in the NL and the Marlins in the AL. Given the amount of NYer's and new england people in South Florida would give a big boost to the Marlins while the proximity of Atlanta to TB might have helped the Rays a bit.
  15. One scout's take on the bullpen: “The gulf is wide. The Yankees’ bullpen is the best in the game,’’ a second scout said of the Yankees main quintet, who have a combined 432 saves. “They have four and five guys who can lock down a game from the sixth inning on. The Red Sox need help. Thornburg has been hurt and it will be hard to depend on him. The Yankees are a major league bullpen and the Red Sox are at a Double-A level as far as the gap.’’ https://nypost.com/2019/02/15/yankees-bullpen-edge-over-red-sox-could-tip-scales-in-al-east/
  16. From what I have been able to find the last Q score for athletes was back in 2016. I wonder how much that has changed? Here's a couple of articles about it: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/07/11/all-star-game-face-of-baseball-bryce-harper-mike-trout-aaron-judge/466878001/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/baseballs-dilemma-mike-trout-is-mlbs-ultimate-all-star-and-yet-he-is-not-a-star/2018/07/16/bc17e36c-8490-11e8-8f6c-46cb43e3f306_story.html
  17. He's doing his job which is to get the most money he can for his clients.
  18. I said the next three slots. The Yanks 3 combine for 9.4 while the sox 3 combine for 8.4
  19. Actually what that link shows is pretty much what jacksonian march has been saying. The difference is really at the top with sale over Sevy, the next three slots favor the Yanks.
  20. well, ultimately the decision was his
  21. I would imagine they consult with a few different doctors for their opinions.
  22. No, that is not a fact. The Yankees decided to do it.
