  1. 7 in the top 50 is nuts!
  2. While I think he will be very productive throughout the majority of that contract I was glad the Yanks spread the money around to a few different areas with shorter commitments.
  3. Sure some are but I know plenty of Yankee fans like myself that are quite happy with him elsewhere....... https://www.foxnews.com/sports/young-new-york-yankees-fan-delighted-his-team-didnt-land-manny-machado The funny part is had the Yanks signed Machado you would be on here trashing the deal, now that he signed on with SD you are on here trying to trash Yankee fans. Troll............
  4. barnes saw a huge spike in his K/9 last year over his career norms Maybe he figured something out or possibly it was an outlier.........
  5. Well figure somewhere in the neighborhood of $25M for xander, $30-35M for betts combined with the $31M for price and you would have roughly $90M (more than 1/3 of your payroll) tied up in 3 players......
  6. Even with going cheap on the bullpen doesn't free up enough cash to sign more than 2 IMO
  7. Jon Heyman ‏ Verified account @JonHeyman 21h21 hours ago More Big winners today: the residents of California. With a 13.3 percent tax rate on highest earners, Manny Machado will pay the state $39.9M over the next 10 years.
  8. Who in the bullpen is making serious money?
  9. sox beat writer ian browne claims that game calling is the weakest part of vaz's game.
  10. Yes, the poor players having to wait all the way until mid-Feb to get paid..........
  11. LOL, I was just teasing about how the shift in power occurred this time last century.
  12. What the hell does deferred money on contracts have to do with the subject at hand?! It's apples and oranges.
  13. Well, we just past 2018. Do you plan on dying in the next decade?
  14. Some appreciate the history of the game. Others think it was invented in 2004..........
  15. I guess all of keith law's predictions have come true?
  16. We'll never know. But had dd waited it looks like the prices for SP's would have dropped. Hindsight is 20/20.
  17. From what I understand if the player retires they forfeit the contract and insurance would then not cover it. And I agree, similar to the Arod situation with the Yanks. They still had to pay him and it count against the cap even though he was an "advisor" for the last year of his contract.
  18. Maybe he tried but nate wanted to see what was out there.........
  19. .....
  20. So just rumors and nothing confirmed?
  21. Nah, I love the history and also look forward to the future. I certainly believe the Yanks will be challenging for a title for the foreseeable future......
  22. But still would remain on the roster and count against the cap.
  23. Correct, but he isn't retired.......
