  1. With the news that Vazquez needs surgery , 6-8 weeks healing, plus a rehab stint, he will not be available until mid September. Dombroski now has a much tougher situation to sort out. He can only move Swihart if he gets a catcher in return. Maybe a bottom dwelling team like the Marlins would do that for Realmuto, along with some added prospects . Or else it is ride with Blake for better or worse through the end of the year and see what he can do with regular reps. If successful, he may have some off season trade value above his current level. If he fails, then you are looking at a trade throw-in or DFA after the season.
  2. Very true , just watch Devers tumble into bases or get caught off them. Bogaerts often misses also.
  3. Two road series sweeps , despite the low level opposition, is a great outcome and wastes another NY win. NYY have their plate full this week but the Baltimore Buttercups led by Buck Showoff will challenge them just not much. Now that the losses columns are identical, NYY needs to win all 4 games in hand in the W column to match the RS record. It gets tougher with 7 games in a 6 day period, because Sonny Boy will need to pitch one of them
  4. The ump is just pitiful, and sucks besides
  5. Why the heck does Kimbrel throw the curve to a guy he has down 2 strikes. Throw it earlier in the count and go with gas at 2 strikes.
  6. Of course now Kimbrel comes on, which is ok as he only needs two outs. Thornburg still needs some time to get his arm up to speed and strength , if he's going to help the bullpen. Otherwise he will be taking a undeserved rest.
  7. Well, Kimbrel had a nice 3 day vacay stay in KC . He should be ready to go again
  8. How incredibly bad can Peralta be ? KC players must look around the clubhouse post game and ask who do I have to F to get out of here.
  9. Yeah, with Holt as the primary 2Bman. Devers may also be a bit weary of the grind as he doesn't have much experience and hasn't taken many days off.
  10. Pedroia's contract, while reasonable by some standards, does pose a blocker to any 2Bman deal due to its term. Nunez is also good for one more year as well (I think). Pedey in the worst case, may have to retire but you will not find that out until next Spring after he tries again. Holt is not an impediment to a deal. If you get Merrifield, if would only be to play everyday for a few years out.
  11. Porcello certainly worked for the potential win here and got serious when it counted. Concern remains about the high strike zone frequency . He needs to pitch in the lower half and off the corners on breaking balls
  12. And which team would that be ?? KC would want 2 AAA prospects and Brock Holt
  13. JDM wouldn't have beat himself up with foul balls last night if he was a better hitter (sarcasm for all the literalists here)
  14. Hah, JBJr raises his average, and hitting nothing but hard line drives again . Small sample of 1 but it is appreciated Jack
  15. HP umpire is predictably brutal on B-S calls
  16. Credit to Porcello for bearing down. He dug the hole but had enough shovel to fill it back in. Nice comeback, younger guys could learn something from him. (Don't leave slop up in the zone)
  17. I admire Rick's attitude say as compared to Price . Cora must have read him this thread when he came out for a social call. But I would still pull him right now vs. Duda
  18. Screw Porcello's opinion of his s*** stuff. Cora wimped out
  19. How about time to go get Porcelian Porcello. Just does not have anything
  20. Seeing eye hit, but they all count . Nunez has done more than Devers
  21. Devers is one of those guys who can go 1 for 4 and raise his average. He's having a pitiful day with Men on Base
  22. Veteran MLB pitchers need to know how to win even without their best stuff . Porcello saved himself there
  23. Main problem is his low pitch count 70, and immediately gives up a lead off double. Go get him now, Alex He does not have it today, neither does Devers, so put Holt on third
  24. Very good assessment of the situation
