  1. And you are correct. When the veterans on the mound have been asked to step up , they have failed. The Sox are now 5-4 vs the Rays/Yankees over the last 9 games. Or 6-6 , if you include 3 with the Orioles. Go to NY this weekend and maybe pull off a miracle but more likely 2-2, 1-3, not good. The 2019 version of this team is a failure and significant retooling including some "big names" needs to happen this off season.
  2. WTF did you expect as the Sox hitters become sharper than the umpires. Nice aggression. This is a beat team mentality. Those rings weigh them down
  3. If Beni rescues this game, I'll give him huge credit. But I think he has a 28% chance of a single
  4. Bucky f***ing Dent hit a game winning HR after fouling off his foot
  5. This above. You are so right, 3 vets who cannot go 5-6 innings and hold the Porcellos in the park.
  6. Jung, hate to take sides in a meaningless conversation, but I agree with you. The failure to develop any significant starting pitching over a decade is a true indictment of multiple FO's, managers and pitching coaches as well as the MilB system of the Sox. Matt Barnes is not a success story in my book. He's OK as a low leverage 7th inning thrower.
  7. You know I love your stuff, so don't take this personal, but the posters need to stop holding up 2018 as the proof that management should accept these results from a $240 million team. It's obvious that JH told DD, no more !!. Problem was, DD had just signed Sale and Eovaldi to longer term deals, matching Price's deal. That will hurt for years to come.
  8. With 50 odd to go, there is still a fair chance of winning some playoff position but the reality is that they have not shown any ability to go on a run much over .500 . They cannot beat top teams regularly. Let them float for the rest of the year and just laugh at what happens.
  9. He is sickening with the K's. Last night 15 K's 13 or 14 hits and a loss.
  10. i assume the Sox couldn't have used him. He's only screwed them all season long. But our roster is full and there's no room since we need 13 pitchers to get through 9 innings
  11. It was a change up , I think, not a curve ball nor slider which he chases but can't hit. The amazing part is that he wass 100% on his front foot and got it out with a bat flick. Wished he did that more often.
  12. Nice to see JD hit a ball, but he was careful to make it a solo.
  13. I think the FO agreed with you, Nick, and likely ownership as well. Let the guys they are paying either come around or go in the tank. Maybe it's a motivator next year to fall down but it's become a Sox tradition over the last decade.
  14. If you ditch Dana, what are you really losing ? A bullpen catcher ??
  15. Kiss this year goodbye, Mal, then start crying about mid February next year whne 2 of these 3 show up feeling "strong and good". Big problems already for 2020.
  16. The sun is slowly sinking in the West, much like the Red Sox chances at catching anybody. What I like is burning up remaining games, while falling further back. Unique way to compete.
  17. If you couldn't figure out that this season was a reset of sorts all along, then you weren't thinking clearly. The expectation was for the team to be competitive, which in a very average way they are, then make a run into the playoffs to take their chances. That can happen but the consistency is not there to make a serious repeat run. Next year, the keys already are Price and Sale's performance . There will be roster turnover as Oldtimer notes, so that will become interesting during the long, long off season for this bunch.
  18. What in the world will the Sox do with Price and Sale for another 3 or 4 years ? Those will become dead money contracts also. You might be able to move Sale's since it's not outrageous money.
  19. Price's post game dinner ? Spaghetti. He's already had a plateful of meatballs
  20. Here's an idea for a new boy band---Price and the Porcellos
  21. Mitchie gives new meaning to Two Bags
  22. JDM is a mental case who cannot recognize a curve ball's spin and layoff it
  23. Was ready to say something about 2 out pitching, but Price displays the point for me
  24. Mr. Excitement Stat Masterson coming up very soon on OB's broadcast
