    So Matt Barnes finally makes it to the IL , so i won't get to meet him in Anaheim. I hope his travails have been due to injury and trying to work through it, but this still may be a roster move of convenience to get a new arm for the trip west

    Good for Franchy, almost anyone except Kike, however, Dalbec batting 9th is a Cora error. The 9th batter needs to have a modicum of OBP too.

    If any stats were ever deceptive, it is looking at batting stats over a reasonable period ( no SSS's). On average the Red Sox have scored plenty of runs in May but as Max said, it's feast or famine. We saw enough AB's in April and early May by 3 guys hitting well over .300/.900 range who could not touch the O's nor Reds starters the last 2 days. It may sound trite but Parcell's was correct--You are what your record says you are and that is 23-26 at the end of May. To reach 90 wins ( maybe #6 playoff spot) the team will need to go 67- 46 , a .592 clip. Can it be done, sure anything is possible.

    JDM, Bogey and Story get to bat with runners on 2nd/3rd and no outs. 2 K's and a popup . Losing record overall, losing record at Fenway , 1 run in 18 innings on a bit of a misplay. Getting ready to call BS on these guys as far as contending goes. Sorry, Story batted with 2 outs, and Bogey with 1.

    Santillan, 16 strikes out of 19 pitches. That's relief but he still can be beat

    Adding to his numerous other flaws, Devers is slow out of the LH batter's box when he hits doubles

    Angels quickly descending the down staircase to mediocrity after a nice start. Rendon is a great example of a costly , long term contract not working out (yet) He cannot stay on the field. Ready to see if we can continue the LAA miseries next week.

    A 16-31 team comes in , shows us there best pitcher and we are scuffling. I'm loving the Forum thread arguments over what is more important---good consistent starters or a closer and BP in general.

    Kike is so f'ing bad he injures Devers in the on deck space. Raffy was positioned excellently for Kike's hitting style

    The defensive positioning is so incredibly good that no one may ever hit .400 again. Going on 80+ years with no one doing it

    If we beat the Reds twice it still won't get us to .500 before a long West Coast trip. I will get to see them live, Tuesday June 7 in Anaheim. I have tickets very near the Red Sox bullpen so i can introduce myself to our heroes.

    Frustrating series with the O's .score high, and still lose one, can't score much in other 2 to lose series at home.

    Our guys are sleepwalking through this one. I think Hill sunk them early and they aren't in a comeback mood.

    30% of the season is over with this game, and the Sox will remain a sub .500 team. Inconsistent are the performances.

    Hill starts with nothing in his tank, really bad opening. He did save one run by beating Mancini home but that play occurred because of his wild pitch

    Not relevant to the whole season but a non-win tonight precludes reaching .500 by June 1.

    Well, no O batter can say he really hit it hard off Valdez. Other wise that was weak. Phillips must be real near the 26th spot on the option/DFA list
