Schreiber comes in trying to paint corners vs an ump who cannot set a strike zone, blows a 3 run lead and then leaves 2 on with 2 outs so his crappy effort can be cleaned up by someone else. His awkward delivery is not impressive.
I'm guessing that the object of starting Wink today is to let him work for 2 innings and see if he can get a shutdown effort in place before Pivetta comes in . If Josh can avoid the walks followed by HR, he should do fine.
As has been noted this year's version of the Sox is a roller coaster ride. Lose vs weaker opponents, then turn around and get a run going on better teams, not that this version of the Yankees is a good team. NYY is still the classic rivalry opponent that winning against validates life in this galaxy
I'm glad Crawford likely completed his game by K'ing Stanton yet again. What a loser that guy will be in his remaining contract years. Good for you Yankees.
Kutter is only at 62 pitches through 5. If he gets the 6th done with no more than 80, I'd say he will start the 7th and see what happens. The 8th could be a reach, but just focus on getting the one you are pitching to now out.
More importantly, Kutter has not yet qualified for a quality start . He needs to get 3 more outs and not give up more than 3 runs. I'd say he has a great chance to get it done
As noted multiple times earlier in the season, when the bottom 4 contribute to the offense, this team can win a lot of 8-9 run games , even with average pitching.
