  1. Dugo not just in a slump, but very unlucky as well. One breeds the other.
  2. Back to the BP for the next 4.1 innings in a game that is slip sliding away.
  3. Blue Jays down 4-3 to Cubs in their 6th. Really need to pull this snoozer with Tigers out of the junkpile.
  4. Wondering if Bello's innings are building up on the effectiveness of his pitches ? Not very sharp today, and the hitters not helping him out. Isn't that a lengthening trend ?
  5. Max, I guess the Sox may also ask themselves why no one either thought of or insisted on teaching Brasier a cutter pitch. Although they can't hit or pitch for the players , I have thought that maybe the Sox are deficient in coaching up their players both at MLB and MiLB levels .
  6. Where in the world of baseball are the hitters ? Showing nothing through 3 full, while Bello is struggling, but helped by 2 DPs
  7. Could be McGuire vs the RH Manning. Wong may also be recovering for catching most of June/July.
  8. Back to the regular rotation with Brayan Bello ready to advance the Red Hots to another win . The return of a highly effective Chris Sale and TC's slugging give hope to all but the hardest of Sox fans' hearts. Bello brings his stuff up against Matt Manning, RH'er with 10 starts, who has a mixed bag with a 5.+ ERA, but 1.18 WHIP against a low K total of 39 in 53.1 innings. So expect to see some balls in play. Duran and Turner back for this one? Sox now have nailed 4 of last 5 and closed within 3 of the losing BJ's for the third WC , Yankees still one back. Late kudos to Chris Murphy for racking up 3 no-hit ( 2 BB's) shutout innings to cement Barraclough's first MLB win , lol. With Sale looking good, Story now making contact, Reyes being a surprise , combined with Casas' thunder bat the immediate future vs lesser teams looks good. Even Cora is looking smarter and that guy Bloom, off the charts . Win another one boys and keep the line moving. Now is not the time to dissect the hitting which with few exceptions is not up to par yet.
  9. The return of Chris F. Sale. WTF, why not ? Keep the streak alive Way past time for hitters to breakthrough
  10. Story took 2 strike zone hittable FBs last night before chasing the slider/sweep-er for his 3rd K. If you didn't know he could/will hit at some point, you would wonder why this guy was even in the lineup. Agree that batting third right away is pushing Trevor to undue pressure.
  11. Squeaked out a win to go up 2-1 in the series , looking for the crusher on August 10. Paxton back on the mound for Boston, vs. Austin Cox, a LH reliever/opener for KC. So guessing that Cora brings the RH'ed lineup with Turner back and Story at SS James Paxton could help the bullpen by actually pitching well for 7 innings. Sox haven't hit KC pitching much. Actually outscored in the prior 3 games 14-13 by a team with a -161 run differential and 42 games below .500 Red Sox need to wake up the bats and put a show on Thursday night. Keep the streak of 1 going please. I want to do the reintroduction of Chris Freakin' Sale on Friday.
  12. As always, take the 4-3 win but then review how the Sox got to 4. The slump is not over yet. Absent a catcher's interference, they might be going to 10. Struggling against a weak team
  13. Helluva throw by McGuire from his knees, but being challenged
  14. Jansen has been a piece of work at times, this is one of them.. But so are our hitters
  15. Pretty sure he gave in to pressure to come back a day or 2 early
  16. Story takes 2 FB's in strike zone, then chases the sweeper out of the zone. Low expectations are not disappointed. Staying in Worcester another 2 or 3 days wouldn't have fixed that.
  17. Story, in his defense, got jobbed twice in that sequence of pitches
  18. If Nick is your #4 or #5 starter you will be doing ok. Not too sharp, gives up HR's but does have a great 12-6 curveball. Will give you 5 innings, but your guys need to hit behind him.
  19. I wonder if Red Sox marketing even considered calling tonight at Fenway, Kike Hernandez Bobble night
  20. Finally get to see a pickoff at 2nd. He was breaking the wrong way to quick
  21. Not sure why Urias/Febles thought he could score. KC never started a rundown on McGuire
  22. Good to see Verdugo hit the ball sharply, but lucky that Menendez could hold that one. Sox back on top.
  23. Story shows the difference between coming out of ST and trying to hit even weak MLB pitching mid season. He is a long ways away from catching up and the "book" has him down for all sweepers away.
  24. Ok, that's a winner 5G !
