  1. 31 pitches in the first , 11 for 3 outs in the second. Gray finally warmed up.
  2. Making Gray throw a high number of pitches in the first: 31 Pivetta at 26 pitches is not real efficient yet, but he can field his position
  3. Dugo likes leadoff
  4. I understand McGuire catching tonight as a LH hitter vs Gray, but Wong has sat out, except PH, for multiple games. Is he injured or just being ( necessarily) rested?
  5. At this point what is the use of even thinking about Mondesi ? A bad idea ( signing known injured players) made worse by a too late to the party dude. With 44 to go and a solid roster finally in place, Mondesi can go for a swim in the Charles.
  6. The 13 after the Nats will be successful if the Sox go 7-6. Need a good game out of Pivetta to set up the Nat sweep possibility. Also the bats need to stay alive as on Sunday.
  7. If you want to predict an unsustainable swing type over the life of a contract , try the guy playing 3B right now. Devers cannot swing out of his shoes for the next several years . He will become a highly compensated DH within 5 years. At some point the Sox will attempt to trade him , maybe 2029/30. Oh, this was about Yoshida . He will be challenging Raffy for the DH slot in a few years.
  8. All wins are good at this point. Hitters get into the game, pitching remains a positive. All around good day, and a break tomorrow before the 16 game stretch with no break that will define this season, IMO. Sox need to win the Nats series, then the Yankees before facing the Dodgers and Astros , both of whom are playoff bound teams.
  9. Jays get a 3 run HR from Varsho to jump the Cubs 3-2 early. At some point we need to win when they and others lose ( like yesterday) or the Sox will run out of games in late September.
  10. It is actually an interesting break to "watch" the game on Gameday simulation . You don't get any of the nuances or visuals but you get a sense of the pitching locations .
  11. 6-3 , bottom 6th, in a must win game. The boys should be able to bring this one home . Story on fire and Duvall , along with Turner, make a good veteran mix in that lineup. Bats have come around possibly.
  12. All is not lost if the Red Sox win tomorrow and then get 2 of 3 in D.C. That will be 7 of 10 , though against lower level competition. The 13 following games with Yankees (3), an inferior team , then 4 with Astros, 3 with Dodgers, and 3 again with Houston will definitively set the conclusion of this season . They will either still be peeking into the PO tent or be so far in the dust that the cries for Chaim's head will be resounding, or Cora's or Sale's or still yet Kike's.
  13. I think they lost the feed on MLB.com. Nothing but a green screen
  14. Since some pitcher has to go to get Whitlock back, you are probably viewing the last throws of Bearclaw's Red Sox career
  15. Williams ate a Baby Ruth before giving a TED talk . Yaz snoozed while Papi Cruzed.
  16. In Casas you missed it, JT is the strength of this bunch
  17. Turner solves the problem of not wanting to run hard on the heel. This guy is a stud
  18. So Yankees lose, BJ's lose but Boston finds it hard to get up for Tigers. Really hard to figure this team out. They cannot win them all , but they do not show any likelihood of a run like the Mariners are showing.
  19. So pre-trade deadline . Long time ago.
  20. Reminiscent of the KC Royals 9-3 beatdown from mid week. So twice in a week , similar games with several oppo HR's
  21. Refsnyder is 6 for 30 in last 15 games. When is the last time he PH'ed for Duran and got a hit off the LH'er? Been awhile, I surmise
  22. Truthfully no, because you can see the hitters are fully disengaged. If it was 1 or 2 runs down, try to hold the difference . Llovera got his out though
  23. You can almost sense when the Sox from Cora on down are just not much interested in a game. Llovera warming up shows AC is thinking about dinner , not bailing this one out
