  1. Sox scored 11 runs in 27 innings vs the Astros, but the run differential was 15 runs. No starter went 5 innings. 3 games combined showed a cumulative : 23/102 hits/AB ; 4-24 w/RISP; and 25 LOBs. I think Max had it right. It's mostly pitching and hitting, none of which showed up for 3 key games. Adios, amigos
  2. Llovera has become the "closer" in the losses to Houston, except the Sox only use him when trailing. No worries, it will get him an invite to ST
  3. Nothing like 1 for 12 in games at Fenway that might have mattered . He who shall go nameless
  4. Kenley needed some work today, and there wasn't going to be a save oppo in the 8th . Cora wouldn't let him go 2 would he ?
  5. The LOBs are showing upon cue
  6. What do you know, th boys of late summer come alive and are only a Grannie away from rescuing victory from the terrible jaws of defeat. Once again pitching, not defense dug the hole they remain in pending 9 outs.
  7. He may see the logjam of young guys now on this team including Duran, Cedanne, Abreu, Verdugo, Casas plus Yoshida under contract for 4 more, and figure his own opportunities to cash in now are much better for a 2 year deal. I doubt Bloom offers him a bigger 2 year deal. Yankees might , if Cashman survives. Bloom is burdened with some guys who are best at DH, including Duvall who will be FA this winter. You could argue that Devers, Turner, Casas, Yoshida should be DH's in some league.
  8. The Red Sox may only be 1 for 15 through 5, but what about w/RISP ? Oh wait.....
  9. My guess is that Rafi will be pawned off within 5 years, with the Sox paying about 50% of his contract.
  10. hard to imagine how ugly this ineptitude could become in September + Oct 1. Out of 28 games, 18 are against teams with better records and of the other 10, 4 are vs Yankees. I know, i Know.... a sweep of the KC Royals can relight the fires of the Titanic here and plug all the holes on the mound, defense and somnolent bats. Hope springs eternal, but only in Feb/March
  11. Death by Devers, hitting .492 OPS over his last 7, 1-9 so far against Astros, including multiple K's and DP's
  12. The good news after this latest debacle is that we do have a day off tomorrow. The boys just decided to sneak it in a little early. But the real good news is that Moon will be able to start " A Realistic View of 2024, Part 1" on Sept 1st. Why wait ?
  13. You mean the pitching coach who did not teach Brasier a cutter to salvage his career , like the Dodgers did ?
  14. This is a team with no heart, no fight and are all but mathematically done
  15. Story looks like he could use a good meal. Maybe go out with Devers for a dinner or 3
  16. But justvthink how much better Raffy will be next year when that big contract kicks in. I'm concerned that what you see is what you will get.
  17. Once again Devers has a chance to pick this team up. And fails
  18. Winck just doesn't have the stuff he showed earlier. He has been used up.
  19. Schreiber not effective and McGuire poorly plays catcher at the plate. Watching any vague dreams of winning sliding away. Duvall is not fast enough to play CF in Fenway
  20. Bello struggling in 5th, but defense determined to sink him
  21. Got to love the grinning man having fun
  22. Yoshida 's dink/dunk swings are getting wearisome
  23. Astros defense is as good as a hit
  24. Hitting with Risp is a random event, not a repeatable skill
  25. Sounds cold but can NESN stop the PSA's, at least during the Sox ABs ? Maybe they could stopp the entire commentary about anything. Most of us already know what we see
