  1. Which is exactly why Story should stay at second base.
  2. If they sign Iggy, he plays SS and Story stays at second where is is very good. I would be ok with that for infield defense.
  3. Apparently he likes playing for last place teams like the Sox and Pirates.
  4. Consider the source of the post suggesting it.
  5. Yes. It only takes one team to be crazy. Can you imagine Raffy in Yankee Stadium with that short porch? I don't want to think about it. After retiring in 2013 I took a trip to Spring Training. I watched Raffy as a 17 year old on the back fields. It would be hard to see him in another uniform but with the Sox new spending limitations and Chaim Bloom at the controls, that is a likely scenario.
  6. I am sure that Devers and his agent don't believe they are wrong in their asking price. They are not going to compromise. They probably figure that the Sox offer is the worst they could do in free agency.
  7. Their top 5 prospects plus a major league starting pitcher should do it.
  8. I agree with you about those mega deals being given out this year. None of those guys are worth what they are getting. The Sox screwed up by not signing Mookie or getting equal value for him and by not locking up Xander when they could have. Had they kept those two, they would still have a nucleus of stars to build around. As it is now, if they don't sign Devers, Sox fans will be waiting to see if Casas and/or Mayer can be stars.
  9. That will get you some last places finishes. Like last year. The Sox are now like the December 26th shoppers. Out there looking for great bargains after not wanting to pay top dollar for the good stuff. You get what you pay for. The roster now (I know, it may look different by opening day) is a last place team in the AL East.
  10. Welcome to Fantasy Island.
  11. The point is that the big boys are playing chess and Bloom is playing checkers.
  12. The Niko Goodrum era has begun. Another great signing by Bloom. It must have been the 5-43 he put up with the Astros that drew Bloom to him. You're killing me Smalls.
  13. I'd sing too for 14.5 million.
  14. I'd prefer Whitlock in the bullpen.
  15. SOX sign Justin Turner.
  16. The Red Sox going into a season not expecting to be competitive is not acceptable and is an indictment of the whole organization starting at ownership and going down to the front office. These are the Boston Red Sox, NOT the Pittsburgh Pirates. They must think Sox fans are a bunch of suckers. We are always going to cherish the 4 WS titles but they can't live off those going forward. Put a good product on the field. Spend some money and get good some good players. I am convinced that the analytical geeks are ruining baseball and the Sox front office is filled with them. Give me Dave Dombrowski any day.
  17. I am just being realistic. Most of the guys on that list suck. They can't help a contending team, which the Sox aren't so I suppose Bloom will keep them all. Couldn't trade them for anything.
  18. No more than 5 guys on that list are worth a crap.
  19. Jim Rice and Fred Lynn aren't walking through that door.
  20. I still don't know why Bloom gave up on Groome for Hosmer!
  21. JDM to Dodgers, one year, 10 million.
  22. Its sad to say that the Sox have become a penny pinching mid-market team who won't compete with the big boys (Yankees, Dodgers, Padres) for top end players. The Sox are going after bargains. Bargains don't put fans in the seats or want people to watch on T.V. If they are going to trade stars like Betts, they better be able to identify the top prospects on the team they are trading with. They totally whiffed on Jeter Downs, Verdugo and Wong for Betts. They are a boring product right now and it doesn't look promising at all for the coming years. I have no reason to renew my MLB extra innings on Directv. They aren't worth the money. Give me the days of Dan Duquette or Theo when if the Sox wanted a guy, they usually got him or at least made a huge bid.
  23. JBJ sucks. He isn't worth the major league minimum. He can't hit his way out of a wet paper bag. Its laughable to even suggest signing him.
  24. I hope you are joking!
