  1. With all that foul territory pitching half of your games in that ballpark has to lower your ERA. OTOH, as a batter playing half your games there definitely has to lower your BA.
  2. Skye Bolt? Sounds like he's fast.
  3. VAZ has been 'nutless' for a while.
  4. In many batters' at bats it's swing hard in case you hit it. In Devers' at bats it's swing hard because you're likely to hit it.
  5. 6-9; four blind squirrels and only one found his nuts today.
  6. Most excellent start by Pivetta today!
  7. Imho, the most entertaining part of All-star break is the celebrity softball game.
  8. If I'm not mistaken, Ted was half Latino. I believe either his father was born in Mexico.
  9. Actually, during an interview with Larry King, Ted was asked by Larry how did Ted handle the shift when he had to face it? Ted simply answered "I just hit it over their head."
  10. RF was even deeper before Yawkey got permission to put a bullpen there in 1940. The BP was later referred to as Williamsburg.
  11. Yup. I believe he wrote a book about that and never mentioned 'launch angle.'
  12. Nice swing there by Bobby.
  13. Mr Gibson was one mean hombre on the mound. And, like you pointed out, he had some power. The guy looked like he had 1% body fat.
  14. Ted Williams handled the shift quite well. He just hit it over their heads.
  15. There's your 1 run, Pivetta. Now go with it. Words Bob Gibson often heard when he pitched for the offensively challenged Cards.
  16. I thought a pop-up record for both teams was set last night, but I guess not.
  17. If one has to rest the SOX better players, doesn't it make more sense to rest them one at a time? Not questioning Cora because the SOX are in 1st place.
  18. Just rechecked the line-up. Make that blackhole 6-9.
  19. It better be with 2 of the SOX better hitters 'resting' and the black hole from 7-9.
  20. The best thing about this west coast trip is that it's only 6 games and not 9 or 10.
  21. The A's starter has very good stats.
  22. The last place the SOX should look for pitching help is their farm.
  23. Lack of foreign substance perhaps?
  24. Another early exit by the Yankems' Cole today. Here's hoping he achieves the same success with the Yankems as Stanton.
  25. With Andriese, unlike many relievers who will give the team a good performance one day and a not-so-good performance the next, the SOX know exactly what they're going to get, or more accurately, not going to get, when he's called from the pen. Hopefully, Bloom can accept that he made a mistake and remove this liability from the team.
