What's really a shame is that with all the terrible teams already in MLB, the powers that be are still talking about expansion. If it's a choice between money or quality, money wins every time.
If the SOX are gonna keep JBJ, he should only be used as a defensive replacement in later innings. If Cora hasn't figured out that JBJ can't hit at this point, then Cora's not the genius I thought he was.
JBJ may be one of a very few outfielders who has hung around so long because of his glove. It happens more often with SS's, 2nd basemen, and catchers, but not so much with OF's.
But with all the distractions that go with the guy named Manny, no one worked harder at his craft
I lost track of how many times Manny's grandmother died.
Here's another Manny being Manny.
Manny left Cleveland to sign with the SOX for a lot more money. So Manny has a conversation with both Bogey and Devers telling them that they should stay in Boston even if they have to take less money. IOW, Manny pulls a 'do what I say, and not a do as I do.' Ya gotta love Manny.
When Manny was in the NESN booth the other day, he made a statement that if a player hadn't played for Boston or NY, he hadn't really played major league baseball.
That may have been a little exaggerated, but I knew where he was coming from.
Although I would love to see the SOX not lose any more games the rest of the season, I seriously doubt that will happen. Just be happy knowing that they will be in the PO's where anything can happen.
Well, if good pitchers got beat a lot, they wouldn't be good pitchers. Fortunately, if one likes to see hitting, there ain't a hell of a lot of good starting pitchers in MLB.
