I don't see why Bogey's contract would affect his play. Just the opposite, it'll improve his play because it's a contract year for him. One way or the other Bogey is going to be a very rich man next season.
I was watching on youtube an interview with a factory owner in France. He was asked why he treated his employees so well with vacation days and a high hourly wage. He answered it's because I can live comfortably on a billion dollars; I don't need 2 billion.
He'll still be a free agent even if he does accept a trade. Either his new team will offer him an extension he can't refuse, or he'll just put himself up for sale like most players in his situation do. It's all about the money.
JD was a big factor in the SOX 2018 championship season. Many teams have signed a player to a large long-term contract and haven't won a WS. I guess many GM's would say if this team can win at least one championship with this player, then the deal was worth it.
