  1. Trading Paxton, IMHO, would be giving up on the season. And Sale's and Whitlock's injury history gives me no confidence that either could finish the season w/o another injury.
  2. Maybe the two days off will get Dugo back on track when MLB's best team plays Boston on Tuesday.
  3. I tried watching the O's/Rays game on my Xtra Innings and found the game was blacked out here in central NY. Very strange.
  4. Carrascoi(RH) vs Bernardino I'm expecting Bernardino to pitch one or two innings followed by Pivetta. I also expect to see the same line-up as last night, with maybe Arroyo or Turner replacing Kike at 2nd and Wong definitely replacing Alfaro. Tonight's game will be telecast by ESPN. Go SOX!
  5. So if my understanding is correct, whether the SOX are still in the PO hunt or not, instead of going after a proven starting pitcher, the SOX should trade a proven starting pitcher for a pitching prospect. Well, if they are in the PO race at the time, that kind of trade would end that drama and the SOX can return to their cellar apartment long term, where it's actually cooler than a more expensive higher up apartment.
  6. We're on the same page, MOON, except even if the SOX do falter before the TDL, I would still try to re-sign Paxton.
  7. I thought I'd heard Schreiber would be back before now. Has he suffered a set back?
  8. That would be more than fair. Prior to his injuries Paxton had a very good pitching resume and it doesn't look like he's lost a step so far this season.
  9. This is true, but what I posted was Paxton is younger than those two and is having a better season. And he won't cost the SOX 43 mil/yr for two years.
  10. I only asked because trading a proven starter like Paxton for a pitching prospect sounds like you're willing to wait for a while.
  11. This is the 2nd game recently where Cora has had to bring in the closer after having a significant lead in the 9th.
  12. If Masa can get there, he will catch it.
  13. Which distant year in the future are you expecting the SOX to be WS contenders. I'd like to live long enough to see another championship.
  14. They've had a problem with clean-up relievers, which begs the question "how bad really is the pitching on the farm?"
  15. Anyone here know the status of Schreiber?
  16. I'm not dwelling on Paxton's past history of injuries. Since he's been back, he's appeared to be healthy. When you mention durability, you should be more concerned with Whitlock.
  17. I believe the FO trying to obtain an average or above starting pitcher and a back-up catcher before the TDL should be the priority. They really don't have enough trade value to expect to get much more w/o trading some of their better prospects.
  18. If the SOX are still in the PO hunt by the TDL, Bloom will have to find a starter. Hopefully, he can find one before the TDL. These two BP starts every 5 games really sux. I think the SOX can maintain a one BP start every 5 days until one of their starters gets healthy. I don't want to see Pivetta starting because he's been great right where he is. Why f**k with success?
  19. I believe the FO will extend Paxton. There's no sensible reason not to. Of course, this is entirely based that he has no further arm issues this season.
  20. If the SOX trade Paxton, they'd better get a better starter for him. That may be very difficult to accomplish.
  21. Paxton is 4 years younger than Scherzer and 6 years younger than Verlander. Scherzer and Verlander are each getting 43 mil next season. I doubt the SOX will have to pay Paxton 43 mil/year. Plus the fact that Paxton is pitching better than either this year.
  22. Why not? It ain't like there's a ton of pitching at the farm, as usual.
  23. Ron Darling's response to that caught liner "Hmm." He's an insufferable little twerp.
