    The main problem, imho, is the 30 teams in MLB. Too many teams and not enough true talent, which uncovers the overflow of mediocrity in today's game. This is true in the other 3 major team sports, but it seems to be more exposed in baseball.

    SOX have gotten a lot out of Devers so far in this series. If he was on the Dodgers, he'd be their 4th best player.

    Speaking of screwball pitchers, Mike Cuellar, one of the four 20 game winners on the '71 O's, had a great one. He threw it about 60% of the time.

    2 things I know about the great Earl Weaver: 1) he was madly in love with the 3-run homer and 2) he would have benched O'Neill for getting doubled up last night.

    Freeman took that IW to Smith personally. He's just a great hitter, who rarely misses mistakes.
