  1. Bello showed good maturity on the mound today by not letting the 1st inning affect the next 5. Results being a quality start.
  2. Preventing runs on defense is equal to driving in runs on offense. Missing spring training was a big factor in Story's lack of offense.
  3. If Devers continues to regress in the next few years, the SOX can just trade him to the Dodgers along with another player they don't want.
  4. Devers' traveling s*** show continues. The guy has the most misleading offensive stats in MLB.
  5. Fearless prediction: I predict that Story will hit a homer today because I believe in the law of averages.
  6. Pedro Martinez, Jr.? I'd bet against that. One reason is Bello's fingers aren't long enough.
  7. Your guess is as good as mine. In regards to Kike I will say yes he was a terrible SS, but he was forced tp play a position where failure was a certainty. Also, Kike will never be accused of not hustling. He gave his all in every game I saw him play. And he was a terrific CF'r.
  8. Well, that may be true, but it is kind of perplexing that I've seen too many SOX players not hustling to 1st on grounders, but Dugo was the only one benched for not hustling. As far as I'm concerned JBJ was Cora's favorite and I still believe he asked Bloom to get JBJ back on the team last year.
  9. I also liked how Sale pretty much told Cora to get out of my face when Cora came out to remove him with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th.
  10. Dugo had a brain fart and arrived late for one game and in one game he didn't hustle to 2nd base. Imho, Dugo and Cora don't get along and Dugo's become Cora's whipping boy. A change of scenery would probably be a good thing for Dugo.
  11. There was another head scratcher in today's game. When Dugo got injured, why didn't Cora place REF in the OF immediately. Instead he put Abreu in RF and then promptly had REF pinch hit for him. Made no sense to me at all. Maybe I missed something.
  12. Much as I like Dugo, I have to agree trading him makes the most sense. A lifetime 280+BA and one of the best defensive RF's in MLB should cause some interest from other GM's. A trade of Dugo plus a good prospect should be able to land the SOX a decent starting pitcher. It's just a matter of trusting Bloom to make the right deal. But trusting Bloom should be a major concern to all SOX fans.
  13. Yup, I couldn't agree more. Hopefully, Bloom feels the same way.
  14. Interesting comparison. Last season JT Martinez had 596 AB's with 16 HR's, 62 RBI and an OPS of .790. So far this season Duvall has 255 AB's with 19 HR's, 51 RBI and an OPS of .927. Imho, it might be a good idea for the SOX FO to re-sign Duvall because he's a very productive RH hitter. And right now the status of Turner returning next season is very much up in the air.
  15. When it comes to nice guys, one would be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than ex-SOX great Bobby Doerr. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Doerr at YAZ's induction ceremony. Down-to earth complete gentleman. Besides being an excellent 2nd baseman for the SOX, he had the added responsibility of keeping his good friend Teddy Ballgame in line. Obviously, Ted Williams is my favorite ballplayer, and if asked who is my second favorite, it would be tough. But if you put a gun to my head, I would probably go with Dewey Evans, who s/b in the HOF and whose number should have been retired years ago. Dewey narrowly beats out Big Papi as my 2nd favorite.
  16. A team is what their record says they are. Right now I would describe the SOX as mediocre, but there are enough games remaining to definitely change that to bad.
  17. Well, thanks, you saved me a trip to Boston to ask him.
  18. Well, that's certainly one way to look at it, but I do believe there's different degrees of suckage.
  19. However, I would ask Rice if it's true that he cracked his bat on a checked swing.
  20. Jim Rice during his career hit into a large number of DP's. I would never mention that to Mr Rice in person because he still looks strong as a bull.
  21. No doubt that Story is exemplary as a defensive ballplayer.
