  1. I realize it's early yet, but could this be one of those very, very rare SOX seasons where the pitching is better than the offense?
  2. No runs for 5 innings; that's good. Almost 90 pitches against the A's in 5 innings; not so good.
  3. Lucky for the SOX that they have Dalbec to replace Devers if he does end up on the IL.
  4. It must not have been right for the last month of last season either.
  5. As for team offense so far, the SOX are second in the AL East in BA (.244). The Yankems are 1st (.245).
  6. Btw, congrats to Vegas for this mini winning streak. Keep up the great work.
  7. The 5 starters have turned heads, so far. The problem I see is the SOX have no depth in SP's. The odds that all of these 5 will be able to take the ball every 5 days is slim to none. But, otoh, let's enjoy it while it lasts.
  8. That is definitely true. I was especially impressed by both Muller and Miller so far in this series.
  9. I recorded last night's game because the BRUINS had an 8PM start at Nashville. Rafaela made a fantastic catch and Wink was equally fantastic in the last 2 innings. I don't know what to expect from Devers this season. He did have a lousy ending to the 2023 season. Oh, well, stay tuned. Abreu and Dalbec are mirror images of themselves offensively. Good offensive game for Story last night.
  10. More good news: The SOX won't see Muller again in this series.
  11. Uecker made 100 guest appearances on Carson's Tonight Show.
  12. My bad. Sorry, Bob. Johnny Carson once said that Uecker was his favorite guest and also the funniest.
  13. The late, great Bob Uecker would have been the perfect play-by-play announcer for this A's team. Remember how great he was in the movie Major League?
  14. Taking one's kid(s) to an A's game could have 2 effects. 1) he'll end up hating baseball, or 2) he'll believe he can perform better than A's players.
  15. Cora has a lot of options with a 9 run lead. Even Joelly is an option.
  16. It's early yet; he'll get his share of hits, hopefully. Hopefully covers a lot of ground.
  17. With all that foul territory Oakland's ball yard would have to be considered a pitcher's ballpark.
  18. I would argue he's the best defensive SS in the AL. Heck, he was the best defensive 2nd baseman when he played there.
