When it comes to nice guys, one would be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than ex-SOX great Bobby Doerr. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Doerr at YAZ's induction ceremony. Down-to earth complete gentleman. Besides being an excellent 2nd baseman for the SOX, he had the added responsibility of keeping his good friend Teddy Ballgame in line.
Obviously, Ted Williams is my favorite ballplayer, and if asked who is my second favorite, it would be tough. But if you put a gun to my head, I would probably go with Dewey Evans, who s/b in the HOF and whose number should have been retired years ago.
Dewey narrowly beats out Big Papi as my 2nd favorite.
