  1. Actually, the SOX are a perfect example of a hot and cold team where an opposition team could easily play against at the right or wrong time.
  2. Timing is everything in a 162 game season. You're gonna run into eventual bad teams at the wrong time. Otoh, you can also run into good teams when they're not playing at their normal level. In a perfect season these two things even out, but usually not.
  3. The elephant in the SOX room isn't Masa's play in LF. It is starting pitching. Imho, if Bloom fails to pick-up a couple of decent starters for next year, then the SOX will be breathing fumes in the AL East again.
  4. The sweep would be much more achievable obviously if Devers could get out of his slump.
  5. Considering that this is his 1st year in MLB, plus living in a new country, I'd say he's done quite well. I expect him to be even better next season.
  6. I believe Casas has the work habit to make himself into, at least, an average defensive 1st baseman, which combined with his offense would be quite acceptable.
  7. What you say is true regarding today's game, but for the whole season the Rays have been better in all four things, which is reflected in their W/L record compared to the SOX.
  8. Getting ahead of myself, but sweeping the Rays, imho, would be the highlight of the season, so far.
  9. Hopefully, it wont, but tomorrow's game could make your original post correct. One game at a time.
  10. Good win. Anything negative that happens to Florida is fine with me.
  11. What a pick-up Martin has been. Last time I looked he had an ERA+ of 250, which means he's 2.5 times better than the average reliever.
  12. "DWAR, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing. Say it again. DWAR, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing."--apologies to Edwin Starr.
  13. Going into today's game the Rays had the best won/lost record for the 1st game of a series at 32-14.
  14. Bello showed good maturity on the mound today by not letting the 1st inning affect the next 5. Results being a quality start.
  15. Preventing runs on defense is equal to driving in runs on offense. Missing spring training was a big factor in Story's lack of offense.
  16. If Devers continues to regress in the next few years, the SOX can just trade him to the Dodgers along with another player they don't want.
