  1. I've always been suspicious of French relievers.
  2. I'm a firm believer that clowns should never get more than a 2 year contract, unless it's Emmett Kelly.
  3. Those who feel the SOX only need to pick up 2 starters this offseason may be too optimistic.
  4. For those tired of weak grounders and lazy flyballs the SOX have added strikeouts recently to the offense for more variety.
  5. With Duvall it's either the best of times or the worst of times, there's no in between.
  6. Well, it's all water under the bridge at this point, but thanks for locating the article.
  7. I may be wrong, but I believe it was Bogaerts who told the SOX FO not to trade him. Bogaerts had the no trade clause to back that up.
  8. As for X-man not being traded at last year's deadline, I believe X-man had a no-trade clause in his contract, so I don't think Bloom should be blamed for that one.
  9. From what I understand the only 'acceptable' deal Bloom found was with the Mets, but then the Mets backed out at the last minute.
  10. Devers is not a leader; he's a gifted hitter who is going thru his 2nd straight season of finishing the season on an off note. There's still 22 games left and perhaps he can regain his groove sometime soon. Stay tuned.
  11. Hey, MOON, shouldn't that have been posted in green?
  12. That's for sure. Not exactly a big talker. But sometimes action, or lack of, speaks louder than words.
  13. Just because you may end up wrong doesn't mean your post doesn't make sense.
  14. Maybe none. No way of knowing, but I'll take the 4.
  15. I just don't see that 'hunger' in JH anymore. Even though I'm grateful for what he did in the past, I would not complain for a second if he sold the team.
  16. Good point. If Beane had said yes, it may have been a whole different history. Probably not 4 championships.
  17. True, but he did go after Billy Beane first.
  18. I don't have any ill will towards JH. 4 championships under his ownership after 86 years of zip. He should, at least, be remembered for that. And JH did have more than his share of shite long-term contracts.
  19. BTW, no matter how one feels about JH it is true the SOX don't win 4 championships if it wasn't for his heavy spending in the past.
  20. If the SOX are going to be true contenders in the future, it's gotta happen thru the farm. The days of JH paying for expensive FA's, imho, are over.
  21. My take on the ownership attitude regarding the SOX currently is this. JH spent a lot of money and wasted a lot of money in financially allowing the SOX to win 4 championships under his ownership. His current attitude is to make as much money as possible by checking attendance for every home game. He had to re-sign Devers to avoid empty seats at Fenway. So, it's all about giant profits for JH for now and until he eventually sells the team. Cynical, I know, but that's how I view it.
  22. On the bright side, not a bad job by all SOX pitchers involved. The SOX were just beaten by an elite pitcher.
  23. Not likely? Maybe you should look at the current standings and look at the SOX remaining schedule and look at the SOX starting pitching. And, finally, look at Devers.
  24. 4 game series starting next Monday at Fenway against Yankems will probably have a big say on which team finishes where.
  25. Yankems winning 4-1 in the 6th, so the fight for the bottom should be interesting or not.
