  1. Also in 1946, where the SOX again lost in 7, Ted Williams played in that series with an injured arm. Ted didn't bring this up until years later.
  2. No game tomorrow. Enjoy your day off.
  3. Sweeping their way back to Fenway.
  4. Here's another thing that came to mind. In both 1967 and 1975 the SOX lost the WS in 7 games. In '67 they entered the WS w/o Conigliaro, who was hit in the eye by a Jack Hamilton fast ball. In 1975 they entered the WS w/o Jim Rice, who was hit in the arm by a bad pitch. Both were major contributors in those respective years.
  5. This fits in nicely with another old SOX player, Don Zimmer, who was beaned seriously enough to initiate the use of batting helmets in MLB.
  6. Having checked the internet on Monty, I discovered that he was the last major leaguer to bat w/o wearing a helmet.
  7. If not, the SOX FO could always give Montgomery a call.
  8. Well, one thing's for sure. Casas won't get Wally Pipped by either of the 2 guys playing 1st at the present.
  9. If Wright was still on the team, the SOX would have a battery of Wright and Wong.
  10. Btw, tonight's HP chUMPIRE has been excellent on his calls. Almost robo-like.
  11. A quality start by Bello as defined by MLB. Only the one bad inning. Btw, 3 runs in 6 full innings equates to a 4.50ERA, which I don't believe is a quality ERA.
  12. Which is not as fast as a NY minute.
  13. I can't wait for Casas to return. Especially, if the SOX are still in contention.
  14. I couldn't do it w/o the help of my Magic 8 Ball. Does anyone here remember Magic 8 Balls?
  15. I guess the SOX have finally gotten tired of being owned.
  16. Another 0-2 base hit. Ted Williams once said that pitchers were the dumbest animals on earth.
  17. It comes under the 2nd amendment; the right to bear charms.
  18. You won't see any base running as bad as Grissom just exhibited.
  19. Bello vs Pepiot(RH) Duran Abreu Wong Devers Refsnyder(DH) Cooper Hamilton Grissom Rafaela SOX go for the sweep. Let's do it.
  20. One Bailey in the hand is worth two in the Bush. That sounds kind of porny.
  21. Unless it's one hell of a coincidence, Andrew Bailey must be a magician. Or maybe he dabbles in hypnotism.
  22. Devers' HR streak ends, but still 6 in a row is a SOX record and pretty darn impressive.
