  1. I hope Ellsbury never plays another game with the Yankees, the front office seems happy to be collecting insurance checks
  2. Calf Strain to miss 6 to 8 weeks, this means he's out for the season. Terrible news for the Yankees, Hicks is out and probably Stanton
  3. MArtinez will make the decision not the Sox, JD is holding the cards, he probably has the future of Betts in his hands. BTW, I don't think he opts-out of his contract, even if I think he has been worth the money
  4. And they will be almost out of the WC too
  5. Urshella to the IL, Voit is back This could be painful, but I believe they will move Gleyber or DJ to 3rd and have Voit take over 1st base (with Ford as backup)
  6. Stay safe, hope everything goes well for all of you down there
  7. He was right on keeping Devers, but back in those days everybody was asking for Moncada, Devers was a very good prospects, but Moncada was near the top of every prospect list and was very close to the ML. I'm sure DD received some calls for Devers, but back in the day if the White Sox have proposed Devers over Moncada, what do you think would be DD's (and everybody else) answer?
  8. He might be the only player to ever deserve that salary
  9. Judge is HOTTTTT, another HR today
  10. Update on the IL Miguel Andújar, 3B Expected return: 2020 Andujar underwent season-ending surgery on May 20 to repair a partially torn labrum in his right shoulder. He hopes to resume throwing at some point in September and will continue to increase activities throughout the winter, which would allow him to be ready for Spring Training. (Updated: Aug. 2) Jake Barrett, RHP Expected return: TBD Barrett felt discomfort in his right elbow while warming up during the second game of a May 25 doubleheader in Kansas City. He was diagnosed with a right flexor strain and has resumed throwing. Barrett was transferred to the 60-day injured list on June 15. (Updated: Aug. 2) Dellin Betances, RHP Expected return: Late August/September Betances threw from a bullpen mound on Aug. 12, the first time that he has done so since sustaining a right lat strain in early June. He threw 20 pitches and said he felt "better than expected." Betances added that his biggest test will be seeing how his body bounces back from facing hitters. He was scheduled to throw a simulated game on Aug. 27. (Updated: Aug. 25) Greg Bird, 1B Expected return: TBD Bird tore the plantar fascia in his left foot and was placed on the injured list April 16. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Aug. 11 that Bird has been in and out of a walking boot. Though Bird has not been able to fully resume baseball activities, Boone said he did not want to rule out a return this season. (Updated: Aug. 14) Jacoby Ellsbury, OF Expected return: 2020 Ellsbury has not played in a Major League game since October 2017 due to a series of injuries, the most prominent of which was arthroscopic surgery to repair his left hip labrum last August. Boone said that Ellsbury is moving toward full workouts in the weight room and could resume baseball activities in September, though he is not expected to play this year. (Updated: Aug. 25) Edwin Encarnacion, 1B/DH Expected return: September Encarnacion sustained a right wrist fracture when he was hit by an 87.1 mph slider from Red Sox reliever Josh A. Smith on Aug. 3. Encarnacion has been utilizing a hand bicycle and is not wearing a cast. Encarnacion took ground balls, played catch and threw on Aug. 24. Encarnacion has also resumed hitting soft-toss and tee work. (Updated: Aug. 25) Thairo Estrada, IF/OF Expected return: September Estrada sustained a right hamstring strain while running out a grounder in New York's 6-5 win over the Guardians on Aug. 17. Boone said that it looked like Estrada would miss at least a few days, so the club felt it needed to make the roster move to place him on the IL. Boone added that they are hopeful Estrada's injury is short term in nature. (Updated: Aug. 18) David Hale, RHP Expected return: TBD Hale was diagnosed with a lumbar spine strain after a July 26 appearance against the Red Sox in Boston. His IL stint was back-dated to July 28, and Boone said he is hopeful that Hale's injury will be of the short-term variety. Hale threw 30 pitches in the bullpen on Aug. 8, but he experienced a setback and has been shut down from throwing again. (Updated: Aug. 18) Ben Heller, RHP Expected return: September Heller is currently on a Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he pitched a scoreless inning in his return to action on Aug. 17, following a right forearm strain that halted his progress in early July. Heller had Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow last April. (Updated: Aug. 18) Aaron Hicks, OF Expected return: Possibly September On the IL since Aug. 4 with a flexor strain in his right elbow, Hicks was re-evaluated by Yankees team physician Chris Ahmad on Aug. 12 and is said to be doing well, but was told that he will not be cleared to resume throwing until at least Aug. 26. Because the strain is close to Hicks' ulnar collateral ligament, Boone said that the club wants to be cautious. (Updated: Aug. 18) Jonathan Holder, RHP Expected return: Late August/September Holder landed on the 10-day injured list on Aug. 10 with right shoulder inflammation, and Boone said that the right-hander is dealing with a shoulder impingement. Holder said that the injury did not occur in one specific game, but rather has been building over time and has not allowed him to bounce back as he normally would. (Updated: Aug. 10) Jordan Montgomery, LHP Expected return: September or 2020 Montgomery made his first Minor League rehab start for Class A Advanced Tampa on Aug. 25, throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. The club had spoken of Montgomery as a second-half option before he experienced a setback on June 18, cutting a batting practice session short due to what was described as inflammation in his pitching shoulder. (Updated: Aug. 25) Luis Severino, RHP Expected return: September Severino has yet to pitch his first innings of the season due to right rotator cuff inflammation and a Grade 2 strain of his right latissimus muscle. Severino threw a simulated game on Aug. 23 that was said to go well. He is scheduled to throw another on Aug. 28. If that goes well, he could join Class A Advanced Tampa or Double-A Trenton on a Minor League rehab assignment. (Updated: Aug. 25) Giancarlo Stanton, OF/DH Expected return: September Stanton sprained his right posterior cruciate ligament sliding headfirst into third base on June 25. He has been throwing and hitting tee-and-toss, and he's expected to "ramp up" his activities in an effort to rejoin the lineup during the current road trip. Stanton could take on-field batting practice for the first time during the Mariners series that begins Aug. 26. (Updated: Aug. 25) Stephen Tarpley, LHP Expected return: September Tarpley was diagnosed with a left shoulder impingement following an Aug. 10 outing against the Blue Jays in Toronto. He said that it did not stem from any one pitch or appearance, but that the discomfort has been something he has been managing all season long. The Yankees advised that Tarpley rest and take care of it now so he can potentially help the club in September and/or October. (Updated: Aug. 25) Luke Voit, 1B Expected return: Aug. 30 Recovering from a sports hernia that he initially feared could require season-ending surgery, Voit is currently on a Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and is expected to rejoin the Yankees for their upcoming homestand. Voit, who hasn’t played since July 30, owns a .278 batting average with 19 home runs and 54 RBIs. (Updated: Aug. 25)
  11. The yankees tailored his swing only for YS, they forgot that they play half the games in other places, the guy is strong enough to hit a HR everywhere, I hope this is the new approach
  12. The thing that I like about this west coast trip is that Judge is heating up, good news, I hope he keeps going the rest of the way
  13. I agree with you, but every baseball era belong to history and all teams played by the rules, I have no problem with somebody talking about the last decade or any period of time to make a point but my answer was directed to the "biggest loser in history"
  14. I read something about a guy named Miguel Yajure, some scouts thisnk he might be the best pitching prospect in the yankees system even better than Garcia, I wouldn't go that far but his numbers this year are impressive: TAM (A+) W-L 8-6 ERA 2.26 G 22 GS 18 SV 0 IP 127.2 H 110 HR 5 BB 28 K 122 AVG .233 WHIP 1.08 He's 21, still 1 year younger than his competition, the reason he's still there because he lost one year of development due TJ surgery, latest reports have him throwing as fast as 97MPH bu he sits at 92-94, above average changeup and a very good curveball
  15. I usually don't respond to this type of posts but... if you think history started 15 years ago be my guest
  16. 27 championships don't really say the yankees are "the biggest losers in the history of sports"
  17. I know this is more about feelings, than actual results/stats, but IMO you have Nomar way too low
  18. Garcia needs to be added at the end of the season to protect him in the rule 5 draft, if he can add more value in the playoffs he will be added soon. The yankees have quite a few prospect which they need to add to the roster this offseason.
  19. Pitching win championships, I'm not so sure SP are the key anymore, but if Severino can come back with no more setbacks, we have a fighting chance, if you remember Severino was a beast the first 2-3 months of last year right after spring training, he's going thru the same process right now, the difference now is that all teams are running at full force and the batters are already in form. but I like our chances if they come back strong (big if). Betances will add to one of the best RP crews in the league, only going up from here. I don't remember a team with so many injuries in recent memory, even less with a winning record, with the best record in the league??? no way. I feel like this is our year, not fully confident, but I'm getting there.
  20. I don't have the confidence yet of my yankees going all the way, but Severino and Betances coming back strong in September could be a game changer, Stanton would be nice but those can put us over the top in the postseason
  21. I guess you are right, another year without a championship will be a failure; at the same time the type of season they had so far, with so many injuries it's something that no matter what the outcome is, it will be remembered for many years
  22. it's been sometime now that elbow problems don't necessarily means TJS, see Tanaka, last couple years we all thought his elbow was a ticking bomb, now is more like a distant memory
  23. I'm not sure, but I believe he was shut down for the year

  25. They just announced the he will be out for 6+ weeks, he can come back completely healthy next year
