The sox definitely had more devastating moments. 7 game losses in 46, 67,75 and 86 World Series. (With 86 being on a level all its own.) single game playoff losses in 48 and 78, along with blowing a 14 game lead in 78. Then blowing a nice lead in game 7 in 2003 to the hated Yankees. All gut punches.

The cost would have to be low, it would be a hedge against Devers not being ready in the second half.

Bichette and Canseco were both trades, we traded Otis Nixon for Canseco and made a multi player trade for Bichette. Easily out of those 4 Canseco had the best year for us.

It was an era of weak hitting shortstops, he was decent offensively for a shortstop with a great arm. Most important he would do anything to win.

In the 80s and 90s signing washed up sluggers like Jack Clark and Andre Dawson were not the worst moves, but not good.

Burleson trade favored the sox, he basically had a career ending injury, while we obtained Carney Lansford and Mark Clear. We then turned Lansford into Tony Armas.

I'm thinking we see Devers in the next couple of months. Would not overpay for Beltre.

Trading Bagwell for 2 months of a middle reliever is historically bad. Giving up Cecil Cooper for an old George Scott. Trading Ben Oglivie for Dick Mcauliffe. I would rate these as the 3 worst trades in my lifetime.
