    Henry got a lot of respect for the championships with him as owner. However , he seems like kind of an odd duck who doesn't relate well to the average Sox fan. So when things start to go sour , the fans will express their anger towards him. Especially when the team finishes in the cellar , 21 games behind their arch-rivals. And when you seem unable and/or unwilling to retain your best and most popular players , it kind of boils over.

    To be ranked down there with the bottom feeders of MLB is an insult and embarrassment to the Red Sox organization. I hope it serves as motivation to management and players to go out and prove this wrong.

    Scott Boras is better and more successful at his job than Chaim Bloom is at his. Xander Bogaerts is also better and more successful at his job than Chaim Bloom is at his.

    It seems pretty obvious that Turner will DH. Also, backup third baseman and sometimes platoon at first base. No way they are planning on him being on the bench.

    That is kind of deceptive. I could say he is replacing Eovaldi or Wacha . In that case , the numbers would not look as favorable.

    Okay. I'm not getting the excitement about signing Kluber. It's like the kid who thought Santa forgot him , then is happy when he finds a still functioning Atari under the tree. Kluber is coming off a 10-10 , 4.34 ERA year with the Rays. That is definitely ham and egger territory. Like the old grey mare, he ain't what he used to be.

    Has the attempt to defend the strange moves of Chaim Bloom now reached the point of trying to discredit Xander Bogaerts ?

    Five year plans are often just a hoax.

    I would prefer Eovaldi over Kluber. Still would like to see another hard thrower or two in the bullpen. Why not Sale or Paxton? As for Story, he needs to cut down on his absenteeism.

    No matter how good the team, injuries can always wreak havoc with the best laid plans.

    The Sox are obviously not trying to keep pace with the top teams in MLB. However, there is some decent talent on the club. Could it be enough to eke out a spot in the ever-expanding playoffs? We will see.

    You have to admit that the Sox are " in on a lot of guys. " They don't get any of them, but they sure are in.

    I think there is a good chance that Yoshida does well in Boston. The question is , did they pay a lot more than necessary to get him ? That seems odd considering the constant talk about a tight budget. If you can't afford a new oven , you probably shouldn't give the Door Dash driver a hundred dollar tip.

    Sox acquire Hosmer. Bloom fan: " Good move by Bloom. He comes very cheap and kills right handers. Good platoon candidate. " Sox DFA Hosmer. Bloom fan: " Hosmer is over the hill. He was a waste of roster space. Good move by Bloom. "

    It shouldn't be a choice between winning the World Series or finishing dead last. For a team like the Red Sox , the aim should be to field a competitive playoff team every year . Then you take your chances in the post season , crapshoot or no crapshoot.

    Swanson is still out there. The only competition seems to be the Cubs and the Twins. He may not be on the same level as the ones who got away , but he could probably ease some of the bad feelings.

    I know Old Red can take care of himself , but I just want to add my two cents worth. You post to him like he is somehow beneath you. No civility. No respect. Is it your aim to come across like some kind of smart ass ? Because that is how it seems.

    About time the Dodgers joined the party. They have been very quiet.

    I don't know what it would take to sign Swanson. He is not on the same level as the other shortstops that have signed elsewhere, but he could do some damage at Fenway. I don't know if his being the last of the " big 4 " would raise or lower the amount it would take. Probably not going to happen anyway.
