You usually come off like Bloom's press agent. At various times, you have blamed the Sox failures on ownership , the budget , the farm , Dombrowski , the players , the fans , talk radio and the media in general. If the shoe fits , you must admit.
It seems to me that Bloom has a small , but very vociferous following. Almost cult like in their loyalty. They refuse to see what so many others see. They will blame anyone and anything else for the problems and failures. And they will get pretty angry with those who see things differently. I think they need to lighten up. Try the decaf. Skip the kool aid.
An analogy: Bloom is the promising young hitter promoted from AAA who has trouble adjusting to major league pitching. Will he figure it out before it's too late ?
Yoshida might become the table setting leadoff hitter the Sox have been lacking, but that remains to be seen. Last season, the Sox outfield was one of the least productive in my memory as a long time Sox fan. Any improvement is welcome.
I think it is fair to say that there is a growing sense of dissatisfaction and unease in Sox Nation. Many folks are losing trust in Sox management . I keep waiting for some big surprise , like signing Correa and Rodon . But it looks like that is not going to happen. When the Sox finish in the cellar , 21 games behind the Yankees , you would think there would be more of a sense of urgency from management. The question is : are the Boston Red Sox still big time players or are they not ?
I don't know. Theo might have had some nerd in him , but I think he was more well rounded than the typical geek. He definitely seemed to relate to the players much better than Bloom does.
You have to give the nerds credit. They have found a way to make money and have a lot of influence in the world of sports. Many of the baseball websites that fans frequent are really just a nerd or nerds sitting at home with a laptop or iPad.
Shortly after the 2018 celebration had subsided and the duck boats were put away , John Henry issued a statement to the effect that he felt he was spending too much of his fortune on the Red Sox . ( It may have been shortly after the Sale and Eovaldi contracts. ) That was probably the start of his falling out with Dombrowski. It is getting to where there is now a falling out with much of the Fenway faithful. He could possibly decide that it is time to spend on talent ( Correa ?) to ease the unrest over losing Bogaerts. Or not.
I thought this was supposed to be the off season that defines Blooms " legacy ." Looks like folks are backing off that already. Are we giving up on Correa ? Are we giving up on the division for 2023?
John Henry is Paul Winchell. Chaim Bloom is Knucklehead Smiff. Winchell has total control of everything Knucklehead says and does. So, don't blame Knucklehead . He is just a dummy.
The Sox finished 21 games behind the Yankees. Now , they have just lost their best , or second best , player . Not a surprise that there are not too many happy campers in Sox Nation. There is still plenty of time before opening day. Stay tuned.
