  1. In my objective opinion, Angel Hernandez is a terrible umpire. But Ron Darling is one of the best color analysts in the business. If you prefer Dave O'Brien and Steve Lyons , either your taste or your objectivity is missing something. Or maybe you just like to complain.
  2. With all due respect to the Astros and Dodgers, this series is probably the biggest challenge in the quest for a ring. It is not your normal quarter finals. It was foolish to think that it would be easy. It is even more foolish to think it is over.
  3. Before Game 3 of the 1975 World Series, a writer asked Bill Lee ; " What do you think of the Series so far?" His one word answer ; " Tied. ". That about sums it up.
  4. What hands me the biggest laugh is posters who rant and moan and predict doom , then say " I hope I'm wrong."
  5. Harm , I'll be your friend.
  6. Suggestion : UConn should let Geno do the recruiting for the football team.
  7. When the knuckleball is dancing it can definitely be a beautiful thing. But I think Mr. Wright is kind of a problem child. Maybe better off without him.
  8. Two very formidable lineups. The difference is in the starting pitching. Big edge to the Sox with Sale vs Happ.
  9. All of the Yank's dangerous hitters are righties , except for Gregorius . No need for a lefty reliever . Anyway , E-Rod will be in the pen. Later in the series Price will as well.
  10. Like old home week with Orsillo , Eck and Hazel Mae doing the game. All that is needed is RemDog and Tina Cervasio.
  11. Shapes up as a very tough series. The A.L. final four looks clearly stronger than the N.L. group.
  12. Against the Yankees , there is really not an urgent need for a lefty reliever. Pomeranz will not make the cut. Most likely Poyner , Scott and Johnson won't either.
  13. I wonder what would happen if a robot umpire took a foul tip to it's brain chip.
  14. According to the Sox team physician, Dr. Vinnie Boombatz , Sale has been cleared to go all out tomorrow night. Look for velocity in the high 90's.
  15. Not many will have any sympathy for Buck. But Duquette put that train wreck together. He should get most of the blame.
  16. The Oakland A's were completely overwhelmed by the whole thing. The crowd, the noise , the atmosphere was just too much for them. They were not up to the moment. Plus , the Yankees are clearly the better team. We have heard ad nauseum how anything can happen in a one game playoff. That may be true , but this game was not the least bit surprising.
  17. We can always expect the obligatory trashing of national announcers by Sox fans. Now Yankee fans are joining in. To me , Eck is always entertaining. Darling is part of the Mets crew. Generally considered one of the best. Even A-Rod has many insightful comments that are ignored by the haters. Like him or not , he knows the game. They even trash Joe Buck and Ernie Johnson. I guess if you actually like Dave O'Brien , your taste is very questionable. Amen.
  18. I always want to win. Can't speak for Cora , but I'm pretty sure he wants to win at least as much as I do. After all , it is his job. If he thinks another lefty is needed , he might go with Poyner. Cuevas is out of the picture. I think he sticks with the guys who have been there all year . That would be Kelly and Hembree . You can add that to your list of things that you dislike . One other thing : With the playoff schedule and the days off , he will ride the best horses as much as possible. The last two relievers are not likely to see action in any important and critical situation.
  19. I think Cora goes with the guys who have been there all year. That would be Kelly and Hembree.
  20. Worry , worry, worry. There is always something to worry about. Take comfort in knowing that the smart money wise guys have made the Sox the favorites. They are as objective as it gets.
  21. Best game N.D. has played in a while. They overcame a good Stanford team plus PAC 10 officials to take control and dominate in the second half. They will have to run the table and go undefeated to make the playoffs. If they can stay healthy, they have a good shot.
  22. Let's forget the bravado and just be sensible here. The Yankees are a much more dangerous opponent than the A's. There is really no comparison. The easiest route to the World Series is playing Oakland in the ALDS and ,hopefully, Cleveland in the ALCS. To say otherwise is foolish.
  23. Hypocrisy exists everywhere. Neither Sox nor Yankee fans are exceptions to this. Sabathia had reason to retaliate. His language and gestures were uncalled for and out of line. Kelly had reason to retaliate as well. No problem with that. I had no respect for Barnes throwing at Machado's head. Totally uncalled for and out of line. But expecting fans to be reasonable and fair minded is expecting way too much. I guess that is part of the fun.
  24. Tell the judge you are willing to let Betts walk. " This juror is excused."
  25. I would think the Sox are making huge profits this season. How much of it John Henry wants to put back in the roster remains to be seen. He has never been known to pinch pennies when it comes to building a winner. This is a terrific ball club. I would like to see it remain intact as much as possible. But that may not be feasible. We will see what happens.
