  1. As long as the Astros don't come out wearing pin stripes, Price will be fine.
  2. A robot ump wouldn't have ejected Cora. He ( it ) would have killed Cora.
  3. A very long and very ugly Game 1. I think the cold weather was a factor. Even Verlander had control issues . Might have been tough to get a good grip on the ball. No problem with Mookie swinging at the first pitch. It didn't work, but it could have. Probably should have gone with Kimbrel in the ninth. Try to keep it a one run game and go after Osuna , who can be shaky. Cora gambled that Workman would do that. Obviously, it didn't work. On to Game 2. Looking for a strong outing from Price.
  4. People get so fired up for the playoffs they want to change up things that have worked all year. No need for it.
  5. Scoreboard.
  6. It seems to me that many fans have still not realized just how good this year's Red Sox are. They are better than the Yanks. They are better than Houston. They are the best in baseball. Yes , it has been a great season, but it would be a disappointment to lose now. They will beat and dethrone the Astros , and it will not be as hard as many think.
  7. Price in Game 2 is the correct move. Dance with who brung ya. No need to change up things for the post season. The only difference in the post season is you may want a quicker hook.
  8. Yeah , but you have to admit No No Nanette was a helluva good play.
  9. There was an element of luck in Didi's ground ball single. It could have just as easily been a double play ball . Then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
  10. We need robot umpires , android managers and Siri or Amazon's Alexa Echo Voice, and maybe that GPS girl to do all the announcing. Things would be perfect. Except, the complainers would have to find something else to gripe about.
  11. I still think Cora did the right thing. We won the game, although it was a little nerve racking. The manager has to have confidence in his decisions. He was going to stay with Kimbrel, at least until the lead was lost. The fans can vacillate and change their minds often. People were calling for Kelly to be left off the roster. He was blasted here from pillar to post. They wanted Poyner on the roster , even though he was green and would not match up well against the Yankee lineup. We heard repeatedly that there was no one in the bullpen who could be trusted, other than Kimbrel. Now we hear that , in the biggest moment of the season to date , Kimbrel should have been yanked in favor of Joe Kelly. Bottom line : Cora stayed with Kimbrel and the Sox won. Who knows what would have happened if Kelly was in there ?
  12. Cora just seemed more prepared and ready for the job than did Boone. Cora probably also benefitted from having an experienced bench coach in Ron Roenicke alongside him. Boone probably could have used that. To me , he often came across as indecisive. He constantly used terms like " a little bit " and " kind of " in explaining his decisions.
  13. Tell me about it.
  14. Yes , it's okay. Red Sox Nation is divided. Cliff and no cliff. You are on the no cliff side.
  15. My take on Kimbrel is that he needs work more than he needs rest. When he has too many days off his velocity is fine , but he loses command of both of his pitches , especially the breaking ball.
  16. It is the very nature of second guessing. If Pedro was taken out and the bullpen blew the game , we would have heard the same second guessers call Little an idiot for yanking a Hall of Famer and going to the pen too soon. The intelligence of mangers is obviously reliant on the performance of the players they put on the field.
  17. The Yankees seem to always be in on every free agent. Especially following a disappointing loss. Many of their fans have come to expect it. I don't think they worry about the " cliff " as much as Sox fans do.
  18. What people tend to forget is that the lead had already been blown when Buckner made the error. If he makes the play , the Sox might have still won , but we cannot know that.
  19. Closing a critical post season game with 55,000 screaming , beer spilling fans in Yankee Stadium is just a tad different than most , if not all , situations in baseball. It was clearly affecting Kimbrel , who is one of the best of his era. Nevertheless , Cora was right in going to Kimbrel and he was right in sticking with him. Cora has been right about most things.
  20. Cora has been right the vast majority of the time.
  21. Now people want Kelly in to close it. A week ago , they wanted him shipped out of town. They wanted Poyner on the roster. The second guessing is too funny. Cora has done a great job. We won . In Yankee freaking Stadium. What more do you want?
  22. Sale was only going to pitch one inning . He would still be ready to start a Game 5 , if that became necessary. There was no consideration of him pitching the ninth. Cora had faith in Kimbrel to close. Like it or don't like it , those are the facts.. Cora said so himself.
  23. Cora said it will be Price in Game 2.
  24. The Boston Red Sox just beat the Yankees in four games. Sure there were some anxious moments, but should you really expect anything else? The Yankees are a very , very good team. To eliminate them in Yankee Stadium is one of the toughest things in sports. The Sox did it. Houston is also very good. But the Red Sox are much better than they were last year, and they have home field advantage this year. The Astros will be the next to fall. Then on to the Fall Classic. The Sox have been the best team in baseball all year and they are the best right now. Try to relax and enjoy it.
  25. Maybe Severino was late to take his warmups because he was in the clubhouse throwing up.
