  1. If we could keep this same group together , we would have a good chance to repeat. However , that is almost certainly not financially possible or even practical. It will be up to Dombrowski to adequately fill the holes.
  2. A lot of closers on the market for sure. Quantity , but maybe some questionable quality there.
  3. The Boston Red Sox were an unstoppable juggernaut right from spring training. This is the culmination of a truly memorable season. A very talented, deep and eminently likable group of guys . World Series Champions . One of the greatest, possibly the greatest , team of all time.
  4. It's been pretty much " all hands on deck " every game. No reason to change now.
  5. If Machado does not get the huge contract he is seeking , he can always write a book . Play dirty , Don't hustle and Fail in the clutch : How not to enhance your value in free agency . By Manny Machado
  6. When the Sox took the 5 run lead , Brasier started throwing , Price sat down and Kimbrel let up for a minute. It seemed like Brasier was coming in for sure. Don't know what happened. Maybe Brasier had trouble getting loose , or maybe Cora just changed his mind. Have not heard any explanation.
  7. If the robot umps are anything like the robot vacuums , they will miss a lot of stuff.
  8. Have a chance tonight to win a championship and go 11 - 3 against three very good teams. Impressive.
  9. And JBJ and Price and Kimbrel and Devers and Kelly and Barnes and Nunez and Moreland and all the catchers. It is amazing how so much vitriol can be aimed at so many players on such a great and successful team.
  10. Madison can be tough, but he seems to be completely out of gas at this point. Probably could say that about many of our guys too. Running on adrenaline. The finish line is near.
  11. The game thread is not for everybody. Definitely not for me. But that's okay . If it helps some fans enjoy the game more , then that is fine. I stayed up and watched every inning.
  12. The Dodgers are not exactly a bunch of jabronis out there to play the role of chumps. They have a big payroll and some very talented ballplayers. This was never going to be easy.
  13. Sale , Price and Porcello all volunteered to start this game. That says something about the kind of guys we have on this team.
  14. People get worked up and they forget what they saw. I will say this much , if the teams were reversed and JBJ threw out the Dodger runner at the plate like that , people would be raving about the great throw , and rightly so. It was the same thing here , but people get fired up and want to blame somebody.
  15. An error , by definition , is failing to make a play that a major league player should make . It happens a lot. The way I saw it , Puig hit the ball sharply up the middle , Kinsler going to his right , fielded it and his cleats seemed to grab as he spun to throw to first. He stumbled and the throw sailed up the line. A costly error no doubt. He felt badly about it and apologized to Eovaldi. Eovaldi responded that there was nothing to apologize for. He said , " He's got my back and I've got his. " That's a good teammate . There were many other situations before and after that could have changed the result of the game.
  16. jung , I watched the same game as you , and I did not see that . Not sure where you saw that he got no jump on the tag up.
  17. Replay called him safe at both first and third. We have seen quite a few guys thrown out on the bases this year , including last night. This was not one of them.
  18. Numbingly bad on the basepaths ? The ball Nunez hit was simply not deep enough, but the s.o.p. there is to take a shot and send the runner. The centerfielder made a strong throw to plate on the fly and Kinsler was d.o.a. at home. Jacoby Ellsbury in his prime would have been out on that. The offense last night was abysmal. We don't need scapegoats.
  19. Cora has been great. Crazy things happen when you score just two runs, one of them a fluke , in eighteen innings. If you want to find any fault, I suppose you could legitimately question pitching to Puig with Barnes on deck and the tying run on second with two out.
  20. We score two runs in eighteen innings . Betts , Bogaerts and Martinez go a combined 0 for 18 . And we are scapegoating Kinsler for one error. I get it .
  21. The Dodgers are a very good team. Did you really expect a cakewalk ? They obviously have done their homework on how to pitch to the Sox hitters. And their pitchers have executed well. Our hitters need to figure it out. You can't always count on getting the two out hit. The home run and the running game have been big all year. Not there lately. I am confident they will respond as they have before.
  22. Kinsler has no place in Red Sox infamy. That is b.s. He is a good player who made an error. It happens. The Sox had multiple chances to overcome it. They didn't get it done. You win as a team and you lose as a team.
