  1. So many of the pitcher's PAs are in the same game. The player is involved in many more games. Moncada was not a star everyday player. I would not trade a Betts or a Devers for Sale either.
  2. Well , how many .179 hitting minor leaguers get this much ink?
  3. Even knowing how important pitching is , I would be reluctant to trade a star everyday player for any pitcher.
  4. Have to wonder if Downs would get the same amount of attention if his first name was Sam.
  5. So many of your posts are geared towards defending and vindicating Bloom . Almost obsessively so.
  6. oldtimer , I do try to keep things light sometimes.
  7. That was some some hilarious stumblin' , bumblin' and fumblin'.
  8. You know you have reached a low point when " Brasier and Santana are on the way" actually sounds like good news.
  9. Back in 2019 , as the blown saves accumulated , we finally picked up noted ham and egger , Andrew Cashner . He bombed as a starter and Cora used him to close a game. He actually got the save . Folks here were saying , "I think we found our closer." Well , that didn't last long. He flopped . But maybe he is still available . Maybe Bloom should give him a call.
  10. If I had a Clue , I would dump Mr. Peacock and go with Colonel Mustard.
  11. I always felt that Hand was a little overrated , but it is kind of shocking that they would give up on him at this point. He would be worth a shot. Can't be worse than some of the stiffs we are running out there now.
  12. The Sox seem to have Yarbrough's number , so somewhat hopeful about this one.
  13. With Espinal on the taxi squad , we are probably better off taking an Uber.
  14. How is this for a slogan: " Sustainable mediocrity."
  15. Morton is pitching well for the Braves. I wouldn't entirely give up on Snell. I don't think the Rays see a pitcher's decline coming as much as they just don't want to spend the money. It works as long as you can keep finding enough guys who can pitch . They seem to have a knack for doing that.
  16. The Dog Days may effect some more than others. They are toast as far as the division is concerned , but the wild card is still very doable.
  17. The Sox do have enough winnable , and almost certain win , games remaining to get a wild card berth. Then you just hope to get hot. I know , " hot streaks" are not a real thing. But it sometimes does happen like that. That has to be the goal .
  18. The " Dog Days" of August are a real thing. Hopefully, the stretch drive will rejuvenate some of the sagging Sox players.
  19. In the old days, the scalpers outside Fenway always had a bunch of obstructed view seats. Some things never change , even in the Internet age.
  20. Getting Fairbanks back has made the Ray's already strong bullpen that much tougher. He literally blew away Devers , Martinez and Bogaerts last night , killing any hope for a Sox' rally.
  21. Always like to win the first game of a big series. Didn't happen. Move on.
  22. See that Bryce Harper has an OPS over 1.000.
  23. Looks like the Dodgers could win over 100 games and still have to play a one game play-in. Tough.
  24. There seems to be quite a few exceptions to the " no trades ,waiver claims or cash deals after the deadline " rule.
