  1. That's not what I'm saying. He keeps bringing in Ziegler where it's hard for him to always get out of. I know the game is still winnable. I never said wave the white flag or said junk time pitcher. Z for the top8.. If he gets out of it, Kimbrel to close it. If he blows up, then bring in the combo of Tazawa and Hembree, to take the pounding and save the rest of the pen.. If it worked out like that. Why bring him in at all? Because it looked liked the manager was trying to rest him and changed his mind. I'm not a manager hater, but that use of the bullpen was sketchy at best. Jmo.
  2. Agree.. But if he wanted to rest Ziegler, which he did , then don't bring him in at all. Yesterday it was on him. Nobody would have said one word if Ziegler blew the 8th yesterday. Farrell is in a tight spot I understand. But yesterday was basic. You have 2 closers in the pen and you go to Taz who I think is not a 100%, but that is besides the point.. hey, it's good debate talk. Right?
  3. I agree with you with on the bullpen part. But wasn't Ziegler brought into that game with the score 3-3 in the top of the 9th, Also Kimbrel was still on the DL. The game yesterday was 3-1 B/8... total different games IMO. What I'm trying to say it looked like to me , he tried to avoid sending Ziegler in, because he didn't want to use him at all. It didn't work out that way. He was used anyway. I though Ziegler was the prime setup man when he doesn't pitch three days straight. He was not traded to the Red Sox to put out bases- loaded no out jams every time Farrell brings him in. He starts the inning clean , unless their is a lefty up and he wants to mix/match with Ross or the awful Abad. jmo I get it. Farrell loses both ways. It always backfires. I agree with you on some stuff , In the long run , it's hard to win like this... bullpen.. The sticky part that is 3 straight one run losses to DET...9-8 and BACK2BACK 4-3's
  4. Ziegler should have started the 8th no doubt. To go with Taz at that point in time was a big error. The reason being was, Ziegler came in with runners on and nobody out. So he was brought in anyway, pretty much to get out of the mess that was created. Farrell had a chance to bring him in, with nobody on. He didn't , knowing he did not pitch the night before. With all righties coming up. The stats are about the same on both Taz/ Ziegler against those hitters, so you go with the better pitcher in that spot.. So now you lost the game which you might have won, also if Farrell was uptight about the numbers, he could have hoped Ziegler could have got maybe 2 outs , and went to Kimbrel for the 4 out save as the last stab. He didn't use all of his bullets in his gun.
  5. I also see if they don't sign Pap( unlikely) because rumors down here he still wants to close. He wants another contract. I guess being the 7 th inning man doesn't work out pitching in the AL East.. He was throwing 91 before he was released. I see Joe Kelly coming up. That is how desperate things have come down to. In the end ,I just go with Pap. He be a two month thing anyway. That's it.
  6. Me too. I would have played him over Marrero, but the lefty situation comes into affect. I don't think you will get the best use of Marrero's glove at second. Both of them up at the same time made no sense. All said and done they are both minor parts as of today.
  7. Now the best pitching prospect in the system would be Groome , who will pitch in the GCL next week. I think you could include Espinoza in part of a deal, but he could not be the center piece of it. The White Sox wanted Beni or Moncada as a must. If not, the deal isn't going to happen. Jmo I can see the Yankees blowing all or most of their prospects on Sale. I just don't see them having any young stars on the roster right now, maybe Judge , to even get a deal done.
  8. They can still make a waiver deal. That process runs through September 1st. It's hard to do, but not impossible. They grabbed Mike Myers on waivers during the championship season. There's still time, but running out day by day.
  9. They sent Hernandez down today Moon. To make room for Hanley. Boston Dirtdogs.com
  10. To me, it's about the same stats on that one.... Ziegler is the setup man. He pitches the 8th. I guess this puts more pressure to go get Paps. It's like saying if they had stats like that against Kimbrel, would he have brought someone else in to close. No way? Not to blame anyone, but a head scratching move. You can't win them all, but this should have been in the bag. Ziegler's walks are starting to become a problem though. I only listened to it part -time on the radio, but from this board and the radio call, that was enough.
  11. Over here in Boston we knew Ortiz was going to be rested, and Holaday was going to catch. Farrell said it the other day. It's not that whacked out, Kimmi. I was thinking Hernandez to start at second, but he is a lefty I thought. Don't know much about Marrero, I thought good glove , average bat. But I know what your saying lol
  12. I'm in work, will have hear it on the radio. It will be a struggle. But for a make-shift line up. It's not all that bad.
  13. 0.01% The old needle in the hay.
  14. That is a good bet. That is the more likely thing to happen.
  15. Line up ... 1. Hill 3b 2. XB SS 3. Betts RF 4. HR 1b 5. JBJ CF 6. Leon DH 7. Holaday C 8. Marrero 2B 9. Benintendi LF WEEI.COM
  16. Your right. They do. ( rules about lightning)
  17. Tom Carron says hope the tiger game goes extra innings. He may be on to something. That game should be at 7:05.
  18. I just checked the on line Baltimore forecast again more thunderstorms coming. Hope it holds off.
  19. IMO once the tarp goes down . It will get called 30 minutes later. I don't know about lightning rules. I think it becomes a hazard rule, unsafe to play. But as you post this, the rain has let up. The forecast calls for more heavy rain at 10 pm eastern time through 7 AM the next day.
  20. Can't see them waiting that long for it to stop.
  21. Leon goes yard. What a year he's having.
  22. Will Price have a shut down inning, so we can tee off on Bundy next inning... Rain is in the forecast he needs to have quick innings.
  23. That's some serious power by Bradley. They are timing Bundy good so far.
  24. XB is swinging at so many balls of late. That's not him.
  25. They will get to Bundy tonight. It's all about Price, and the rain holding off.
