    I agree. But that was one of DD problems building a bullpen from the inside or outside. That may have cost him in 2013. He tried that route trading Milley for Smith. A deal I liked, but backfired this year... trading for elite Players sure, looking for low cost players its hard to do. It's sort of like the old Kevin Towers former SD - GM mojo, you got to get lucky. It's all hit or miss. jmo

    Kind of reminded me of Lester that one year they won it. They was some debate of having him on the playoff roster. Let's also keep in mind these games this weekend , that Erod and Buchholz are pitching in are pretty close to playoff games. As we go into the home stretch you find out all you need to know.

    As of now... things could change. IMO Porcello Price Pomaranz Erod (in the bullpen as the late inning Lefty to get those tough LHH out) If we are playing a short 3 out of 5 series. I might go to a 3 man staff depending on the days off in the schedule. ( somebody might have to pitch on three days rest) I would have to look at the matchup first. I would carry both Erod/ Buchholz in the pen... It could be a better debate in a 4 out of 7 format of who should pitch the 4th game. If somebody put a gun to my head and I had to use four starters in a short series.... Buchholz because of his ex. He's been there.

    I for one am looking forward to this series. In this type of series as long as the Red Sox can take 2 out of 3 , or worse case win one don't get swept, they should be alright going into next week's big home stand of the season. It will be very interesting to see if the Red Sox starting pitching can hold that Jay offense down. The first game is always key with Porcello pitching to set the tone. He's been their Ace even though Price has come around. This is a big series but they all are. I'm excited about it. But concerned as well. These two teams are so equal to each other it's a coin flip.

    Agreed. Who would have thought. I'm in the middle of all of this. I want to pick up the club opp if he pitches like this. I don't see a lot of F/A pitching that's says go get this guy. So at 13m you have to pick it up. The other thing to think about ,if you pick it up you might get his best year heading into free agency for that last contract... Old Clay is teasing me again. I think right now 60/40 it gets picked up.

    The way Farrell adjusted it, Price will pitch the last game of the year at home against Toronto. If a one game playoff is needed Porcello is on track to pitch it. Of course things can change with rainouts and everything else. It was in the Boston Herald Red Sox note book today.

    In John Farrell's pregame notes. They have made a switch to the SPR. Pomeranz ( extra rest)will be pushed back until Tuesday. With Price pitching Monday against O's. Clay Buchholz will start Sunday in Toronto.

    Moncada, will sit tonight and with the day off on Thursday get two days to clear his head. Shaw will play 3rd tonight. He needs a mental break at the moment. That is what Farrell said yesterday. He could and has the right to change his mind though.

    I think you take 6 innings and 2 runs everytime. He's had No run support in his last handful of starts.

    Maybe we can blame Farrell for putting in Kimbrel for the 9 th yesterday in a tie game on the road. But you can't blame him for the other run- less 15 innings lol. I'm on the manager a little bit.
