  1. Unreal, might not like it here, in this game thread, but its reality.
  2. Probably conceding the run, just need contact.
  3. I bet we would have taken an infield single with the 2 men in scoring position.
  4. They should take 200 points off your OPS for that. K with 0 outs and 2 men in scoring position.
  5. Snell don't have it, time to clock it.
  6. I think Darwinzon Hernandez is starting on Tuesday, against Texas.
  7. Hold them to 2 only, then we should be OK.
  8. Brian Johnson started for the Pawsox, 1 inning so far, 1 hit, 2 K's no runs. Probably go longer then that.
  9. Pawtucket will have 3 Sox rehabbing today, Brian Johnson, Tyler Thorburg, and Steven Wright.
  10. Getting back to last night, Price is 4-1 with a 1.88 ERA in his last 9 starts. 2 of his starts ended losing streaks, good stuff.
  11. Not much of a sample size for Hernandez, since only 19 at bats against Lefties in the Minors this year, but he has a .053 avg. against Lefties. But prior to his injury at Pawtucket, he had a .315 avg. in 2015, and a .328 avg. against Lefties, 2016.
  12. What's funny not only BA's going down, but for all the philosophy of OPS is, so are the HRS. Probably why they juiced up the ball.
  13. Your a Homer guy. You must love the swing and miss guys then. I understand. I do too, love a full hard swing and come up empty, and you take your seat for your next at bat. OPS to me is a rewarding stat, that does not take away the negative. Rewards BB's, and does not penalize K's. Especially with RISP. You can leave runners all over the place throughout the game, hit a 3 run HR, and I bet your OPS will be better. Meanwhile you stranded runners throughout the game, and wont be penalized. Especially if you Strikeout. Rewards the 2 run HR, but not the 2 run single. At least not enough. Bottom in every sport is score more then you Opponent. How you get there is many ways. Baseball is a team sport, even though individuals have to make the plays, and at bats. Answering your question, it depends on the situation. Something that many forget. Of course you want the HR, but if there is a man at 3rd and infield single drives in the run, that's good to me. The word Run is the most important word in Baseball. If you look pretty doing it fantastic, if you look at infield single, as a negative and you win. What can I say. Anything that magnifies, means your not seeing it truly.
  14. Lets hope so. Cant have the Rays taking 3 out 4 here. That's not acceptable. 2 out 4 isn't much better. But at least you don't fall behind a little more.
  15. To me it looks like you'll sacrifice at bats, for that 1 swing to hit it out of the Park. All I'm saying is if your .200 hitter, and a bad OPS reflects it, then I'm in. If not, not too good of a stat to me. What kind of a hitter is he? I would just look at how many HRS are hit. You know a kid that hits 20+ HRS has good Power. That's it. Doesn't tell me he is a good hitter. Just that he has Power. Good for him. If he strikeouts 200+ a season, better for me as a Pitcher. Odds are in the Pitchers favor in this case. And they don't need anymore help, if your failing 70% of the time. This is a good percentage.
  16. To you it is, not to me. I don't think it reflects, contact. It magnifies Power. Reason why there is less and less .300 hitters in baseball.
  17. Last 10 games Josh Ockimey is hitting .139. His HRS bring his OPS up, almost tops on the team, but his BA is .206. Not sure OPS is a good stat. Doesn't show me contact. Lets keep it simple Boys, your in this game to hit the ball. Where it goes, usually helps because you make good CONSISTENT contact. In his last 39 at bats, he has 5 hits. With those 5 he hit 2 HRS, his OPS is .879. Something wrong to me.
  18. Sox at this point in the season, do not have any Minor League team in any League over .500. The closest team to it is Single A Greenville at 27-35. Wins in the Minors, is important. It shows talent.
  19. Recovering from TJ, Rays #2 Prospect, Brent Honeywell fractured his right elbow, in a BP session. He'll miss the rest of this season, too. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
  20. You know what happens on splits. 4 games are lost to the season. Rays will be happy, like I said hope Snell is not all of sudden becomes that CY Young winner like he was last year tomorrow. Then its 3 out of 4 for the Rays at your Park.
  21. Boy hope Eovaldi comes back soon.
