  1. If that's the case every game is like this. Luck, and randomness.
  2. A 1-0 game shows me how good a team really is. It tells me they are focused. Anything can happen in these games, and might not be Players fault, and you can lose. Bad breaks happens. Stopping the Bad Breaks from scoring or hurting, means team is more determined, and mentally tough.
  3. 40 games last year as a Reliever, both in Portland and Pawtucket, Buttrey had a 4.81 era. This year its 2.25. Is it the Opposition, or new pitch? Too much of a discrepancy for me to think he's the next Kimbrel. September call up for me, and see how he does. For me at least, for 9th inning Closers I want to see total domination in Triple AAA, in that role. Buttrey is improving, I guess, but needs more seasoning, before you take on a role like Kimbrel. Who dominates Major Leaguers.
  4. Guy facing today has picked it up. Fiers in last 2 Months, has a 2.77 era in last 8 starts. At home he has a 3.00 era this year.
  5. Keep the positive vibes going. Good job David, and team. 1-0 games are more won with the mind, than anything else. You have to be focused every pitch, every play. Its not easy.
  6. I hope Price kicks Ass.
  7. Take out first 10 games coming out of the break and Sox have a pretty tough schedule. I count 33 games out of 54, with teams over .500. These next 10 games are critical. Get some cushion.
  8. Denyi Reyes should have been promoted by now. Probably best Pitcher in Single A South Atlantic League. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=l_pit&lid=116 Maybe Crawford too.
  9. 1969 that team could hardly hit, but that Pitching.
  10. Keep an eye how Familia does against the Yanks.
  11. Yanks face Syndergaard, Matz, and DeGrom after the break. Ought to be interesting. This is a good time to get more distance between us.
  12. Agree, and the good GM's will really do their homework. They will scour everywhere, not just Triple AAA, or Double AA. Duquette did this with the O's.
  13. Big problem with the Sox, is they don't promote the kids quicker, so they are facing tougher competition. Push them. At this time of year in the Minors, you should have evaluated enough, to see if they could go to next level. Minor Leaguers that stay in the same level throughout the year, tells me they are only good or bad to that Competition. When kids jump leagues, and obviously they learn new league might struggle a bit, but if the talent is there they will improve. That's important. Steady progress against tougher Competition, not the same, best way to see if you might have something in a kid. That's why I would like to see Ockimey promoted, see if the kid is Special. Bunch of other kids should have been promoted by now.
  14. This scares me about Dombrowski, we have squat in the Double AA or above, even Ockimey is borderline. He has a .250 career BA in the Minors. But some smart GM's might go to the Lower Levels to find the Talent that is left for the Sox. Toronto did this with Espinal, and the Pearce Trade. Again, love the Trade, hated Prospect we gave up. After 2019 when Bogaerts becomes a Free Agent, we have very little talent at the SS position, and with Boras knowing this he'll command big bucks. And get it. No matter what his stats are. Renda what is he 27 years old? Espinal was promoted to Double AA.
  15. I guess nobody saw this. Tell me there isn't some talent in the Lower Levels. No-hitters aren't mentioned. Almost perfect game. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2018_07_19_capafx_ashafx_1&t=g_box&sid=milb https://www.milb.com/milb/news/enmanuel-de-jesus-goes-7-23-innings-in-greenville-drive-no-hitter/c-286475662
  16. Padres got a real good Young Catcher, for a rental Reliever. Smart move by the Padres. Not a Rental my mistake. The best value of all the positions to build a Farm is Relievers.
  17. Wait and see on Pomeranz, Charlotte not a very good team, especially Offensively. Koppech pitching tonight, and he's struggling down there. I need at least 2 more good starts from Pomeranz. Here's the Batting Stats for that League, not too much Offensively in that League. Pitching should be pretty good given the Competition. At least 1 more quality start then I'll feel much better. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=l_tba&lid=117 You have to keep an eye on the Competition your facing in the Minors, you will get a lot of False and padded stats otherwise. That's why a kid like Beeks, does good against weaker Competition Offensively, and comes up here gets clocked.
  18. O's did good for a Rental, Diaz and Bannon, Wow.
  19. Houck pitched his best game of season, against a real good team. That Astros A+ team is the best young Pitching squad in the Carolina League. The kid he went up against Pitched No-Hit ball for 5 innings, and they threw a 1 hitter for 10 innings. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2018_07_18_salafa_bcaafa_1&t=g_box&sid=milb
  20. 64 games left 33 games are with teams over .500 at this point. Last part of season should get interesting.
  21. Dodgers are getting really serious if they offered Yusniel Diaz for Machado. This is a big mistake. They paid 31 million, just for rights to sign him. In the Futures Games he showed what kind of potential he has.
  22. BP will determine the Sox Future going forward, I feel. Pitching always does. Last year Barnes, and Hembree were not on Play-off Roster. We will value them this year. Kelly is a disaster, lately. Hope most Sox Fans have the faith, in our BP. I don't. Funny thing about Barnes since I live in CT. he choked a lot of games away at UCONN, and that scares me. Great arm always had it. Pressure another story.
  23. OK if Devers is out for the year I got you.
  24. Here is why Dombrowski is a chucklehead, last year we had nothing, He called up Devers, after a few games in Triple AAA, kid did alright. Now, we have a .670 winning% maybe more, and most of games were losing is because of inconsistency in the BP. He's a kid, need patience. look where your weak. Devers is OK for 21 years. BP is the problem, with the Sox. 3rd base were OK. Don't mess with the on field chemistry now.
  25. Dombrowski is a chucklehead worried about 3rd base. Reliever in the 8th inning we need.
