  1. Johnson's performance last night probably ended any chance for Pomeranz to make the Roster. I bet now, Cora will see how Velazquez Pitches tonight so he can evaluate if he is useful in the Play-offs, Long Relief, Spot Start who knows. Big game for him. This Indian series was useful, because good team, that's also going to Play-offs. Not like your facing the Orioles, and you don't know what your getting out there.
  2. Evaluation on a lot of these kids, that's what Cora is using these games now. These are the best games, no pressure on the Fans. Just enjoy. Oakland needs 1 win or a Tampa Bay loss. So as far as I'm concerned everything is locked up. We face either Oakland or the Yanks. Oakland had their chance during season to Catch up to Houston, couldn't do it, really doubt they catch them with 1 week to go.
  3. I've flipped on the 3 Catchers feeling. I don't consider Swihart as a 3rd Catcher, I have him as a Super Utility kid, like Ben Zobrist. So we need Leon and Vaz. Situations in games especially late in games, where you might have to PH for a Catcher, or another Player makes 2 Catchers, + Swihart, gives us more versatility.
  4. Thanks was drinking heavy. Next day was my birthday, which made it even worse.
  5. Anybody remember the Play by Pinella, off Remy's hit in the 8th inning in the sun field in Right? That lucky play was the reason we didn't tie the game. By the way how many here saw that game? Got drunk real bad after that one, hurt for a long time, probably still does. That was one Great team.
  6. Rays lost.
  7. Rays losing 5-2, if Yanks win that's the 1st Wildcard.
  8. Gil Hodges once said I don't care if Jerry Grote hits .100, the way he handles our Pitching staff, and plays Defense, makes him a .300 hitter. Tom Seaver said the best Catcher he's ever had.
  9. For me its just a state of mind. Quick trivia, who had the game winning hit in the 1978 Play-off game between the Yanks and Red Sox? Wasn't Bucky Dent. And who was the Pitcher for the Sox, that gave it up?
  10. For you not for me. You see things different than I do. No problem. I can point out guys like Reggie Jackson too. Tougher in High leverage situation, and he would never win a Batting title. Probably strike out 3 times, look like crap, but you didn't want him up with game on the line.
  11. This is the first year JBJ hasn't tailed off in 2nd half of season, actually gotten better and more consistent. This is absolutely a good sign. You want to be on top of your game at end of season, and Playoffs, not in April or May, and then tail off.
  12. Here's I define "Clutch Hitters", a good Clutch hitter, will control the situation, one that cannot do it, will let the Pitcher control the situation. Throw out the stats, watch the hitters. You can see them. Jeter good example, Ortiz another.
  13. JBJ has gotten a lot of timely and important hits, in the 2nd half of season. The ole "Clutch" word pops up then, cant have that. That tells me he is mind is right at the plate, most important thing to hit in the Clutch. Has nothing to do if you get the hit, but state of mind because of important situation. You cant predict a hit in Low Leverage Situation, never mind when maybe the game might be on the line.
  14. What you want is the A's to stay as close as possible to the Yanks, so both teams have to use all their starters as long as possible, especially the BP's, so neither one really gets no rest. Sox got the best record no problem, for homefield. Wonder how the Sox play the Yanks on final day if it happens if both the Yanks and A's are tied? Only 2 games in the lost column, still close. Yanks are playing everyday till final game, with no days off, at this point.
  15. Houston really hits Lefties good, something to think about going forward.
  16. He's swinging much, much better. During Spring Training, Double AA, and Triple AAA, Pitchers were throwing it by him. Now, he is quicker to the Pitch, and trying to go other way. Problem with JBJ is if he lifts his head, wont make contact, keeps his head down, he'll be fine. Been doing that a lot lately, just missed a lot of balls, that he had a very good swing on.
  17. Wonder what that FanGraph was in 69 with the Mets? Seriously do they have it? Orioles 90% Mets 10% All I'm saying anything happens in Baseball in the Post-Season. You absolutely have to forget what happened in the season.
  18. Actually what it tells me is the importance of JD Martinez.
  19. You think team last year in same spot, was 60 games over .500? Team, that finished 7th in HRS? I'll check.
  20. Sox are 80-20 when they hit at least One HR. 23-29 without a HR. Looking like last years Offense.
  21. Tells you how close both teams are to each other. Expect a battle if we play them.
  22. Yanks won 91 last year, Guardians 102, and Guardians lost. Look, I'm a Homer too, but to take the Yanks lightly, is not smart.
  23. Sox 1-15 with RISP so far in this series.
  24. Sox Bullpen has a 6.95 ERA against the Yankees this season. - Sean McAdam.
  25. I see you got your point of view, no problem.
