  1. For all us arm chair Managers would you go Workman in the 9th or bring in another pitcher?
  2. Well, if they hang on and beat Cleveland tonight there are 55 games left. Miss the playoffs, I believe he will be fired. Playoff appearance with another early exit sweep, I just don't know..
  3. Gray is averaging 6 innings per start and a hundred plus pitches thru 6. For what Beane will ask in a trade I don't think its worth it by way of a top prospect.. Verlander might be a better option by way of what you give up but then, there is the Tax. End of day players u have need to perform on the offensive side of the ball. I just don't know if Farrell has them mentally prepared to play?
  4. Is Reed consistent enough? Gives up the hits + 6 HR's.....
  5. Bruce will fit right in with this defense...
  6. Does Chavis get you Bruce and Reed if the mets were interested in the prospect? Bruce with HR MM gives you pretty good depth at 1b DH and bench
  7. Once again a simple mental mistake by Barnes not backing up the C on a scoring play results in runners on 2nd and 3rd.. Plays like these where Farrell has to held accountable.
  8. Hosmer had 54 hits this season to LF. Why was the D in a shift? Betts in the third inning did not run out a fair ball pop fly to the infield with a man on first. It tells me there is no focus from the Manager to the Players. Once again with the acquisition of Nunez there is no reason for your best RBI Hitter to bat lead off....
  9. Betts better start running out those infield pop outs like the one in the third inning tonight. Infielder drops the ball that would have been an easy double play.. Lack of focus is a concern
  10. I second the motion!
  11. After the EEI interview with Farrell, there is only 1 conclusion....
  12. Good Pitching beats good hitting. I understand there needs to be a balance during the regular season. After 100 games your a playoff Team and a Division Leader despite all the B.S. Pitching wins and if Henry is serious about a World Series this year you pay zero attention to the "so called" luxury tax.. Darvish in Tx would solidify a playoff spot and possibly the AL Pennant. Napoli can play the bag and is still a legit HR threat to spell Moreland and Hanley.. Both 18 free agents. At what cost? Outside of Devers and Mata, anybody they want to include ERod before the knee gives out for good...
  13. I root for John Farrell, I really do. After the last few seasons its hard to defend the man any longer. What nailed it for me was the excuse he made for Betts running through the third base coach stop sign a few games ago. Im all for defending players but at some point you have to hold your players accountable. For those of you who might say "nobody knows if does or not" that is true. When you see the same mental mistakes being made in the field time after time that alone should tell most all we need to know. If what the Globe and Dan S. are reporting is true about the Eck incident on the plane with Price, then Farrell along with Price must go this offseason. Ortiz is gone. He ain't coming back. If a Player will not take the lead then its up to the Manager. There is definitely something missing as there was last year.
  14. Im disappointed the Sox didn't let Farrell walk and name Lovullo Manager.
  15. This is a player who at times has been the best player on the field. After the comments by Farrell on "the great aggressive base running Betts showed" when he ran through the 3rd base coaches stop sign the other night makes you wonder how relaxed the clubhouse is under Farrell? Is it to relaxed where these young players are not held accountable?
  16. Amen.... Better to bring up promising rookies during the season than out of spring training. There in baseball shape and mindset without many distractions....
  17. There isn't a dominate reliever arm in the minor league system. Maddox, Shepherd, Martin, include Ramirez and any other over the hill pitcher in AAA.. All of these pitchers give up a ton of hits and to many walks. Im not saying you trade anymore top prospects for a reliever or rental reliever but you have to find another dominate arm to help Barnes Kelly and kimbrell.
  18. Look at this lineup. You have 7 8 9 hitters batting a combined .200 with a OBPCT of .300. Betts hitting leadoff is not the answer with zero hitting in front of him. AB hasn't showed enough to bat 3rd and CYoung should be DFA showing zero bat speed. If I was DD I would have called up Brentz or RCastillo with a DFA or phantom DL stint for Young to get something rolling... With XB out, shake it up Dave Holt Pedroia Betts HRam Brentz AB Leon Marrero Bradley
  19. You missed my point completely. I was replying to a post where Betts gets traded for Trout. My point was, Machado is hitting .238 at 25 yrs old. You think the Orioles would trade him because of a slump. You live and die with young talent. Thats why patience is a virtue.
  20. What did the same Manager do last year when Betts got hot with the long ball? He dropped him to 3rd or 4th in the order.... The logic of Farrell has gotten old. It makes no sense to bat Betts leadoff when your 7 8 9 hitters cannot get on base or have a collective OBPCT of .300
  21. Would you trade Machado since he is hitting .238 with a .300 obpct? The Mike Trout's of the League are once in a lifetime players.. The rest are going to be inconsistent.
  22. Your right on Frazier.. Bite the bullet at third and call up Devers. The track record has been pretty good the playoff years calling up a legit prospect. Ellsbury, XB, Benny last year. Is Devers that good? I thought I heard the Sox were scouting Neshek?
  23. You would have to figure a few million over should not be a big deal? I call on Donaldson. Maybe Toronto has cashed it in this year and next. 1 year left at $18 in 2018. Would be the middle of the order player they need with plus plus power.....
  24. Contracts are paid out over a 6 month time frame. If Boston acquires Robertson any time now until the deadline they pick up only 4 mill of the 12 mill owed to the player. Same with Frazier. You could get both for 8mill for the remaining 17 season. That is not taking into account what the luxury tax % hit was on those two contracts. Remember, Sale making 12 mill, only 6 counts towards the luxury tax cap... Right now I had Boston at around 185 million vs luxury tax of 195 give or take the draft picks signed and international pool money. I figure there is 10 to spend..
