  1. How much of that is attributed to crappy weather we've have this spring? They've had some horrendous home weather.
  2. I'm good with guys like Whitlock, Bello, Tanner and Crawford. It would be nice to have an ace leading the group but they are hard to come by as we've found out. I'm all about developing young talent and identifying the 'core' group moving forward. Basically you have Devers, Yoshida, Story, Casas, Wong, Duran and maybe Dalbec (he's our until traded) and Valdez. Sooner we find out about Mayer, Yorker, Rafaela the better off the team will be...... Funny that there's not much talk of Whitlock being in the pen today.....He's a #3 starter type in my mind with potential to be a #2.
  3. Bloom better start thinking about this off season right now.....I just don't see any point in having someone like Kike playing full time, unless of course Cora wants him back on ANOTHER one year deal for $12M.....we get his game.
  4. Bingo.... We waste so much money on fringe players in the range of $5M-$10M each year. I guess then you can always use the excuse of "well, it's just for one year". Ugh.
  5. There's the other half of GIDP twins.
  6. Verdugo Paxton Arroyo should all be traded.
  7. I am here to watch Whitlock.
  8. It's time to clean house.
  9. Great...we now have 2 guys who are proficient at GIDP.
  10. 1 Bello 2 Whitlock 3 Houck 4 Crawford Thats about it going into 2024. Needs lot of work here.
  11. I am officially done with Sale. Obviously I was hoping and not facing the reality of his health. You can't build a team around him.
  12. CLEVELAND, Ohio — Corey Kluber got absolutely crushed Thursday back here where his major league career began. He went 3 ⅓ innings of relief, allowing seven runs, 11 hits (two homers) and one walk while striking out one. The Red Sox lost 10-3 to the Guardians at Progressive Field. Why is he still taking a spot on our 40 man roster? Bloom you f***ed up. Own it and move on.
  13. Yes....I'm not sure if we're in it. If Sale does not return, I'm afraid it's over. I don't want to over spend on a player in July.
  14. We're treading water. What needs to happen internally for the Sox to get into playoffs? Would you consider trading Paxton to a contender such as Texas? That's the move that the Rays would make. Thoughts?
  15. deGrom out for the year. 5 year $175M I wanted Sox to sign him but I did not think he would cost that much. Expensive mistake.
  16. I guess we're just a bad team. I'm sure all of us on this board 'coached' either baseball or softball, or at least played some baseball. FIRST RULE; Keep the batter off second base. Make them get three singles to score a run. I remember telling my daughter's softball team just that when she was 10. Yoshida NEVER even looked at the batter as he made the throw to home plate. This was on a base hit CHOPPED over Dever. A ball that Yoshida had to run to just reach the ball. I will give him credit for at least hitting the cut off man but this Rays team has too much speed. He had NO play at the home. Hitter is on second. On the subsequent play, a Ray hits a ball to first base, easy play for Turner. Now the batter was too fast probably to double up but it was an easy force out at second. Instead of one out, runner on first, it's one out runner on third. We bring the infield in. Then we have a ball hit slightly to the right of second base for a base hit. 2-0. With a runner on first and infield back, there's a chance for a force at second, keeping the score at 1-0. We're just not good enough to play sloppy baseball. Our bats bailed us out in April but we're in a team slump. THIS IS A SLOPPY TEAM. No one is held accountable. Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you f***ing kidding me?
  17. John Lester was terrific for the Sox. Here's a quick summary of what he did before being traded to the Cubs during 2014 27 2006 15 GS 7-2 81 IP 4.78 ERA 28 2007 11 GS 4-0 63 IP 4.57 ERA 29 2008 33 GS 16-6 210 IP 3.24 ERA 30 2009 32 GS 15-8 203 IP 3.41 ERA 31 2010 32 GS 19-9 208 IP 3.25 ERA 32 2011 31 GS 15-9 191 IP 3.47 ERA 33 2012 33 GS 9-14 205 IP 4.82 ERA 34 2013 32 GS 15-7 213 IP 2.46 ERA 35 2014 Traded to the Cubs during the season I believe Bello can have the career John Lester had. Lester BLEW UP in his 3rd full season in the majors. I see Bello breaking out in 2024, also his third season for the Sox. Tanner, Houck and Kutter will all turn 28 in 2024.
  18. The pressure is on Arroyo NOT TO GET INJURED again. At least not until either Chang or Story returns.
  19. Bello, despite going 2-2 in his last 4 starts, he's pitched relatively well. 22 IP, 6 ER, 8 BB (5 in one start) and 22 K's. He has thrown 402 pitches, going 107 in one start. Obviously his command is not there yet but you would have to say he can shoulder his starts. Not coming out after 70 pitches like some. I believe he's an ace in making. I'll get back to you with specifics but Lester at one point, took over the pitching staff. See if it happens to Bello.
  20. Random Runs scored YTD (3rd in AL) 154 April (3rd in AL) 122 May (T-10th in AL) ERA YTD 4.66 (12th in AL) 4.81 April (T 11th) 4.36 May (T 12th)
  21. I loved Eovaldi signing the first time. He signed the year before Porcello's final year of contract. I loved the timing of that signing. Bringing in someone solid before another departed.
  22. Hey Moon, what's your over and under on Arroyo staying healthy? I'll be generous and say 25 games. “He is who he is. He’s a good player and a good defender,” said Cora. “Obviously, when he’s going well, offensively he can contribute. We’ve got him out there against a lefty today.” He is who he is. What did he mean by THAT? That he's injury prone? lol
