  1. There is no formal limit on how long a rain delay can last. My radar says rain will clear out around 12:15 am. Can they really make players wait that long?
  2. Since our Yankee fan let us know of every Sox injury, I thought I'd return the favor. NEW YORK -- Corey Kluber is expected to miss a minimum of two months after an MRI revealed a strain of the subscapular muscle of his right shoulder, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Wednesday. Kluber will be shut down for at least four weeks without throwing, then he would likely need that same period of time to build back up, placing his best-case return in late July. Kluber, who pitched a no-hitter one week ago in Texas, lasted only three innings against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Yep, it was only a week ago that he pitched a no hitter. So far Sox starters have been healthier than the Yankees. Looks like Brasier will return in couple of weeks for the Sox.
  3. Looking at radar, rain is here until 12:15 am. Will they call it?
  4. I think we all get that here on the board. Most are good baseball minds. Sunday's lineup was a joke but I understand why we have to do it. We have some veterans that need rest. Maybe there's no other way to do it other than to sit out JD and Xander on the same day. But I get it. It's a long season. That said, I want my major league team to have as many bullets as possible on its arsenal. Why, why, why not try someone like Duran especially when he's hot. I'm not saying TODAY. But to put an arbitrary number games or at bats in the minors is ludicrous as well. We're trotting out a guy that's hitting well below .200. What good has HIS AT BATS done? What about a guy like Marwin? He's very valuable on defense but we have several of those guys. I would do everything I can to shore up the lineup. I'm a big fan of Dalbec thinking he can occupy the 9th spot in the lineup. But if he needs to platooned, so be it. We bitch and moan during off season about Bloom not doing enough. Hell, why not turn every rock looking for an edge? What you afraid of? That you're going to hurt his itty bitty feelings? I bet if you asked him, he'd say yes to playing center field on a major league team. I doubt he'd say "I'm not ready, I need about another couple of hundred at bats".
  5. Yep, you are what stats say you are.......initially I mentioned that his BA of .230 was his career norm. But I guess his career ops wasn't so bad....... I've mentioned this elsewhere....I just don't see anything 'special' about Kike....a high energy guy whose offensive stats aren't so high energy.
  6. Sandoval playing for $1M. Here's a guy totally got overrated by Giants appearance in the playoffs.
  7. That's how you do it....Morton throwing strikes
  8. I don't see what the big deal is about Kike.
  9. Not sure if it's the starters getting into trouble in 6th but the bullpen definitely has been suspect, 6, 8, 9th innings do not look good.
  10. Boston Red Sox lineup 1. Kiké Hernández 2B 2. Alex Verdugo LF 3. J.D. Martinez DH 4. Xander Bogaerts SS 5. Rafael Devers 3B 6. Christian Vázquez C 7. Danny Santana CF 8. Hunter Renfroe RF 9. Bobby Dalbec 1B Basically the opening season lineup had Santana been healthy. Based on May production out of Renfroe, the lineup looks solid offensively. Dalbec probably has another month before being platooned if his numbers don't improve against right handers.
  11. Yep, if I'm Chavis I'll ask to be traded. He will never get fair shake under Cora. Cora has his guys. Cora values versatile guys yet he didn't give Chavis chance to work in outfield. It is what it is. I like Chavis. I hope he's traded and becomes a 30 homer type.
  12. I'm more interested in median runs scored than average. Think back to the Oakland series. What good does average do in that series.
  13. By my count, there's only 161 days left on major league season, far below the 172 days required for one year's service time. Why not bring Duran? You can always send him back. Please spare me the 'mental damage' it'll do if he fails ********. He's 24 years old. If he can't take simple misstep, he's not the great player to be that Bloom thinks he'll be. Platoon Renfroe and Dalbec. 1 JD 2 Devers 3 Xander 4 Vaz 5 Kike 6 Verdugo 7 Plawecki 8 Arroyo 9 Dalbec 10 Santana 11 Marwin 12 Renfroe 13 Duran I like Chavis but as it was said on Overthemonster, Marwin is Cora's guy. He ain't going nowhere.
  14. Maybe we get better players if Beni has good year. To me, he was no longer viable in Boston. I've certainly had enough of him. Not in my core group going forward.
  15. On mlb.com, I keep seeing the headline the Yankees on a quite run....5 straight wins. Meanwhile, the Rays have won their last nine......well good for Yankees.
  16. All good points. There's still plenty of time for someone like E Rod to assert himself (more). Look what Barnes have done to become more dominant or Richards finding his groove. One thing I don't want happening is to overpay for someone in July, ie give up some young talent for a rental. I trust Bloom to do the right thing.
  17. Yep.......I think we've passed the date for full year major league credit......like the article said, no way he's doesn't belong. Who would you rather watch? Heck, I'm more excited about him than Dalbec.
  18. We have two off days coming up and this is the line up? If I'm the starting pitcher, I'm thinking WTF.
  19. I am skeptical of 2021 World Series run unless somehow we get the old Chris Sale back in time for the playoffs. My guess is that's probably not likely. Maybe he can add a tremendous depth piece to the pen. I'm a firm believer that pitching wins in short series (best of 5, best of 7). Although our starters have done extremely well for the purpose of pennant chase, they are not getting into 7th innings. Basically they pitch well for 5 innings and hand the baton. I don't think that will work in short series against good teams. Too many innings out of multiple relievers to navigate. I'll f***ing say it. We don't have a G Cole that can shut down a team for 7 innings. That has not been the pattern to this point anyway. Who knows, maybe it's been by design by Cora. In essence we don't have an ace. Last night is good example. 5 1/3 (I think) by our hard throwing Nathan Eovaldi. He pitched well mind you. It was hold on to your hat the last 4 innings. Obviously anything can happen in a short series. But to win 3 consecutive best of 7 series, lack of ace quality starter will surface eventually. I root for the Sox every day and I'm thoroughly enjoying this season. Perez, Pivetta and Richards have given us outstanding innings for 3-5 pitchers. We are beginning to see what the future of Sox looks like from position players. The core group is beginning to surface. I guess the ultimate question is if we make the playoffs, would I bet my house on the Sox? You give me prime time Chris Sale, then I think about it. Doubtful otherwise.
  20. Eovaldi with a breaking pitch on 1-1 to pitcher, now 1-2. The guy has had 5 career at bats, none in majors. He really tries to get cute sometimes.
  21. Dear God, I can't watch Cordero swing and miss much longer.......I want to bang my head on my coffee table....
  22. These prospects could be future closers per MLB Red Sox: Jacob Wallace, RHP (No. 28) One of the top relief prospects in the 2019 Draft, Wallace went to the Rockies in the third round after setting a Connecticut record with 16 saves and joined the Red Sox last September as the player to be named in the Kevin Pillar trade. He has a pair of plus pitches in a 93-97 mph four-seam fastball with late tail and a sweeping 82-85 mph slider with depth Bloom is doing well with these Players To Be Named transactions.
  23. If you're going to spend $12M more to get the same pitcher, wouldn't you consider spending $10M more for a top line, win two games in a playoff series type ace? We may have chance to win the World Series in 2022 with Sale back healthy and addition of an ace and signing Barnes as the closer using Ottavino money. Ace, Sale, Eovaldi, Richards, Pivetti, Perez, Houck, Whitlock, Seabold (?).......whoever doesn't start goes to the pen. We'd still be near the luxury tax limit. All the position players return other than Marwin. I think he's the only one on a one year deal. Most important thing is that we haven't traded away any young talent and the farm system continues to improve.
  24. I'm not opposed to re-signing E Rod but in this case we're not upgrading the staff. We're bringing back the SAME pitcher we paid $8.3M for say $20M. What do we gain?
