  1. But we've decided as a team, defense is secondary. That's our team. We can't complain about it. We know what the Rays are. We are not them. They can manufacture runs. They play good defense. When we can't outhit the other team, then we're in trouble. We need to fix our pitching staff this winter. Don't give me bunch of mediocre pitchers. We are not built to play Defense. Just look at our SS. He's an offensive player. I don't care that he doesn't make any errors. He has no range. That goes for the entire team. Just look at our infield. I have no idea what Bloom's teams will look like. Can someone tell me? PS many moons ago, Indiana Pacers publicly stated they wanted a running team. But they kept drafting guys like Clark Kellog and Herb Williams, epitome of non runners for NBA.
  2. I see that E Rod is getting hammered by hapless Rangers tonight. No fire, no passion, 'oh well' he says. Get some real pitchers. Please!
  3. Here we go, a double and a walk......Rays, Yankees and Blue Jays all won today.
  4. Devers and Schwarber should bat 4th and 2nd.
  5. Between Devers and Schwarber, the latter should hit second.
  6. Call me crazy but if I'm the owner, I'd take a chance on Syndergaard.
  7. It goes back your thought of strengthening the staff by acquiring #1, thus making Sale #1,#1A.
  8. What is Sox identity? Without looking at historical stats, I've always felt Red Sox teams always hit. But we didn't win between 1967-2003. Came close but no cigar. (used 1967 because that's when I became a fan) What changed in 2004? Did our pitching become stellar in the years we won it all? Was it because of 1-2 punch at the top of rotation? I think the answer is resounding yes. Just going by my perception. We are/were pitching by 'committee' this year and they were finally exposed for not having an ace. Eovaldi is not an ace. E Rod is not an ace. Then our bullpen fell apart. We need a #1 alongside Sale for 2022.
  9. Sure looks like a good hitting lineup going into 2021 .916 Schwarber .914 Xander .896 Devers .893 JD .800 Renfroe .792 Arroyo .791 Kike .769 Verdugo We're basically in top 5 in AL in runs scored (4th), have 91 more runs than the Yankees but we trail them. What's amazing is Rays are tied for first in AL for runs scored, 40+more than the Sox despite only having 3 players with OPS in 800's.
  10. Sox's high ranking is based on 3 players, Casas, Mayer and Duran. Downs moved out of top 100 faster than a delinquent renter. Casas is probably couple of years away and maybe Mayer will be the replacement for Xander. If we can't win even with additions of Sale, Houck, Duran and Schwarber in the lineup then there are serious flaws with this team. Maybe we're just not very good.
  11. I don't see him NOT getting a two year $26M deal at the end of 2022. That's the calculation I don't see not happening.
  12. Where did that JD will forego his 2022 salary of $19.325M for a new 3 year $45M crowd go?
  13. It still remains to be seen if this was worth it from losing what they did. Maybe they lost nothing. But from the perspective of uplifting the entire Yankee fan base, it's definitely worth it. Sox are exactly the opposite. Lets just hope staying 'pat' will pay off. Hopefully before 2030.
  14. After the Arroyo incident, my guess is some on Sox staff do not want Schwarber getting hurt playing 1B, especially if he's not 100%. That would be very very bad optical. They'll look like a clown. They need his bat. With Schwarber DH'ing, moving JD to outfield will allow Kike to play 2B and maybe even 1B when Arroyo comes back. Yeah, it's not left handed bat but right now I'd rather see Kike than Dalbec. We'll see if Shaw can get hot. He's not having a good year. Shaw is not the player the Yankees got at trade deadline.
  15. With the signing of Travis Shaw, we can finally close the book on Santana hopefully. We're tired of waiting. Santana's smooth swing has not been productive. It's time for Santana to move on. Go home and chill out. All I ever wanted was repeat of his 2019 season with the Rangers. Waiting is over.
  16. A bird in the hand is $19.325M in your pocket, guaranteed for 2022 season. I can't name another DH making that kind of money. I agree with you (sorry misread it the first time)
  17. Wow, Rays lose in bottom of 9th....they don't lose many of those.....
  18. I'm not sure if you were serious about Schwarber but starters have pitched well the last few games. I'm pretty optimistic.
  19. If we sweep the last six games vs Orioles, we just need to play .500 against the others to get to 92 wins. (24-18) Yankees would have to go 27-18 to tie us. I like our chances.
  20. Games Remaining 3-4 Rays 3-3 Yanks 3-3 Orioles 3-3 Guardians 3-0 Rangers 2-0 Mets 0-3 White Sox 0-3 Seattle No more Toronto. We have 6 vs Orioles.
  21. This pathetic Orioles team will be paying Chris Davis $23M next year too. Was there a bigger bust? Full Disclosure; I'm pretty sure I thought I wanted him at one point. I was strong advocate for Stanton too. Most of it had to do with his front loaded contract. It's good that I'm not the GM.
  22. Ah, there's not any DD worshippers. He was hired to do a job. To meet Corporate expectations. We just intervene when DD haters spew garbage. Look at our top 20. Where in the hell did they come from? He had a MANDATE from HENRY. GET US THE f*** OUT OF TWO LAST PLACE FINISHES. Minor league players exist at the pleasure of big league team.
  23. Yes, f*** the 'win' stats....
  24. again, lets use the technology available to us....ugh
  25. I do think signing Schwarber in anticipation of JD moving on after 2022 (even if he stays after 2021) is typical Red Sox move. We extended Eovaldi knowing Porcello was going to be in his last year of contract. Hedging the bet as a gambler would say. It's matter of how much that insurance will cost. I love Schwarber. I saw him play at IU.
