  1. I agree to an extent that a lot of stats have some subjectivity. The problem with a lot of defensive stats is more a combination of this and small sample size. Differences in fielding ability between players only matters for a few plays in a given week so there's just not enough data for the subjectivity aspect to balance out.
  2. I guess I should have read the rest of the thread before posting, then I could have just said 'Bellhorn04 is 100% right'
  3. I agree on Price. I would not want him to face the Yankees. However, I think a lot is still up in the air and depends on how Eovaldi, ERod, Price and maybe even BJ look the rest of the year.
  4. It's hard not to agree that the sox have been poor in the last two postseasons, but this year they should have home field advantage. I don't think that's unimportant.
  5. He's not, but he also does not have enough of a track record of success where his absence can be used as a legitimate excuse for losing.
  6. Cora said Leon starts today, Butler will start in Baltimore
  7. Exactly! Judge is a big loss, but Sanchez has a .699 OPS, more errors than all but 5 catchers in the AL and is next to last in passed balls in the AL. Anyone claiming this is part of the problem is just looking for excuses.
  8. Alex Cora doesn't seem the type to push for meaningless records at the expense of postseason success. I don't expect any AAA lineups, but probably more rest for the regulars. I wouldn't be surprised if they avoid pitching Sale, Porcello, Price in the games against NY, CLE, and HOU.
  9. Magic Numbers: Division: 41 vs Yankees Best Record in MLB: 41 vs Astros
  10. I think you're misunderstanding him. If there is not an off-day they add in a sixth starter so the top 5 get 5 days between starts.
  11. What halfway decent teammate would ever say that? It's basically saying he doesn't like throwing to other catchers on the team.
  12. I'm not that good with the way this all works, but it might be the same reason he's not on our 40 man. I'm guessing that if another team took him and had him on their 40 man roster, the money the redsox were paying him would go towards their luxury tax.
  13. Wow. 18 actually, 2 balls per inning. Amazing
  14. Good point, after seeing all the water they have left to dump on the star of the game, they clearly aren't drinking enough of it.
  15. Take Bogaerts great play a few days ago on the rundown as an example of this.
  16. Play better than that and we could knock the yankees out of the playoffs altogether.
  17. Technically it took them 77 pitches to get 9 outs, then 28 pitches to get the next one
  18. The redsox pen has done pretty well at that.
  19. That's not an excuse. If he isn't healthy that's his fault for not saying so. There was 0 reason to rush back.
  20. Yankees are now closer to being out of the wildcard race, 5.5 ahead of Oakland and Seattle, than they are to winning the division
  21. On the bright side, the fewer times the Yankees see him before the playoffs, the better.
  22. Actually, that was the last time they were at least 41 above (9/29 technically) and they were 54 games above .500 then, they reached 41 over .500 on July 27th that year
  23. They brought Beeks up today, so as much as it scares me he may be long relief. If the sox win today they'll be 35 games over .500 for the first time since the next to the last day of 2004.
  24. Back then it was more like a normal game where winning was the goal for players and managers. Just consider your second sentence "Ted's game winning homer". There is 0 chance that he would still be in the game to hit a game winning homer now. It's all about making sure everyone gets in to the game.
