The.Mariners are to blame for only three Red Sox losses in their seven-game season series. Boston’s current seven-game losing streak tops Seattle’s longest losing streak of six (accomplished on four occasions this year).🙄 Boston’s single longest win streak of six this year matches Seattle’s longest (accomplished twice this season). Last year the Red Sox won 19 more games than the Mariners in the regular season and this year may maintain that margin even if the Sox fall short of the M’s 89 wins in 2018. The Red Sox have matched last year’s loss total at 54 (the Sox will need to go 49-0 the rest of the season to reach 108 wins). The Mariners need seven more losses to match their 2018 total of 73.

Seattle general manager Jerry Dipoto likely approached many teams, including the Red Sox, about Roenis Elias and Hunter Strickland but probably settled on the best offer. On a sidenote, my fantasy team with Strickland applauded the trade of Elias because Strickland likely would be elevated to the closer's role in Seattle. The fortunes were reversed moments later when the Mariners traded Strickland to the same Nationals club.
