  1. I felt the same way too. I blame it on being on the East Coast and we don't get to see the good players on the left coast as much.
  2. Man, this team is fun to watch. When they're behind you can't help but feel that it's just a matter of time.......
  3. Ya ya ya. We get it. The AL West is the superior division and that's the only reason the Mariners don't have a better record than the Sox or the Yankees.
  4. He gets the job done but it's never pretty. Once again he threw too many pitches, too much nibbling. However... I sometimes wonder if our expectations for ERod are too high. He's giving us a chance to win every game he pitches in. Sure, he taxes the bull pen but the good news is that the pen is up to it and we come away with a win. Are we asking too much? Shouldn't we be happy with a guy who's got 10 (maybe 11) wins?
  5. Must be Swihart. Holt can hit.
  6. Workman is looking good out there - getting the job done.
  7. We have a guy on the bench who usually catches balls hit to where that triple was. But..naw. he "can't hit" so it doesn't matter that he prevents runs.
  8. As a former coach I'm surprised you're not all over Brock Holt. Holt isn't a great player at any position but he does just what a coach wants him to do. He goes out there every day, plays respectably at any position, and never tries to do anything he can't do.
  9. The flip side of that is that those other three teams in the ALE may not have such a bad record if they played in another division. Edit: Baltimore not withstanding. The O's would suck in any division.
  10. Agree 100%. If JBJ is going to rest in Fenway it would make more sense to move Beni to CF and let JDM play left.
  11. Hmmm.... I don't want the Skankees playing most of their playoff games in Yankee Stadium. But I do think that team is the exception.
  12. That's been my experience too. Probably because outstanding offense is easy to quantify and therefore understand while outstanding defense (or any defense for that matter) isn't.
  13. LOL That would have been me you were referring to. Thanks!
  14. Not a bit. I recognize his shortcomings - or at least what his shortcoming was until about a month ago. But I also recognize the defense he brings to the game. I have trouble believing that we spend all this time disparaging the player with the highest defensive fWAR on the team. It says a lot about how some of us view the importance of defense.
  15. The All-Star game? Meh. I may watch, but only because there's no other baseball on tv.
  16. The implication there is that if one had to choose between Devers and JBJ right now they should choose Devers. I ain't buyin' it. The fact that JBJ has a lower fWAR than Devers only points out the shortcomings of fWAR.
  17. It has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with disdain.
  18. FWIW, I like the Pavilion seats, the regular ones, not Pavilion Box seats. It's not only a good view of the game it's also a great place to get a foul ball. Maybe someone else can help this guy too... For the past couple of years the Sox had what they called Red Sox Replay where season ticket holders could resell their tickets but IIRC this year they've changed to something else with the same goal. Does anyone remember what that's called? It appears that the Sox have almost completely squeezed out the "Independent ticket dealers". The last time I was at Fenway there was nobody on the street selling tickets. Also, they've pushed the scalpers out of the Sox owned parking lots at JetBlue
  19. I've always been of the belief that the reason the Sox went 86 years without a WSC is because they never were in Win Now Mode, they were always in Wait 'Til Next Year Mode.
  20. Ya, but.. weren't you also hot on Duda at the time?
  21. There's no middle ground there. Bill was either dumb as a rock or the greatest troll ever. I actually felt sorry for Bill at times. I'm going with Door #1 - but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
  22. I agree. Cora is a breath of fresh air among managers. He actually says what's on his mind, even when it casts him or his playes in a bad light. And even better, he has a way about himself that keeps what he says from being offensive.
  23. Don't you just hate it when those nasty facts get in the way of a great post? LOL
  24. Now, now. You can't refer to him as a troll here because 1) he's been here a long time and is grandfathered, and 2) he doesn't troll all the time. Maybe we can refer to him as a "PT Troll" (Part Time Troll,or even "PTT") when he's obviously trolling.
  25. Baltimore is a great place to play baseball right now...if you like losing.
