  1. Thanks. The concern here is overwhelming.
  2. Thanks. We're all obsessed with the condition of the Yankees pitching staff.
  3. Moral: Don't let Mookie even think you're throwing at his head.
  4. Something I haven't seen mentioned about Bogaerts is that he's gotten away from that 'crow hop' he used to have when making routine throws.
  5. Nice play on both ends there. Bogey made a nice stop and Moreland did a good job of holding the bag.
  6. I don't care if he's "young". He's been playing this game for ..what?....15 years?...and he doesn't know how to handle himself in that situation yet? Does he even WATCH baseball?? He like a few others on this team are fortunate that they have innate talent because their baseball IQ is in the crapper.
  7. Do you really think that Derek Jeter is going to trade a player with a big potential upside to the Red Sox without bending the Sox over a barrel and giving it to them DRY? This is the same Derek Jeter who will always bleed Yankee pinstripes.
  8. IMO if he starts to kickass someone will go, and it may not be Swihart.
  9. I've always been a defense-oriented person, even as a coach I'd tell my kids that "If they don't score they can't win." And "All you have to do to win is to hold them to fewer runs than we score." While a player can't have control of the offense because he can't control what the pitcher does, a player can have control over his defense and the better he plays defense the better his chances of winning.
  10. It's all good, Spud. I'm a little paranoid after all the negativity posted here regarding JBJ.
  11. I'm not surprised that Jeter would want more than Chavis or Groome to make the Sox even more formidable for the Yankees.
  12. You can't lose a 0-0 game.
  13. When JBJ stops making catches like he made last night - - - then I'll start to get concerned.
  14. Gary Thorne is an *******. He gives Mainers a bad name.
  15. I hope they get him, and I hope it works out as well for them as going after Ellsbury did.
  16. I did notice that. In a positive way. But remember, they're not trolling - they just have "other interests" right now. Hahaha
  17. Run prevention is as important as run scoring.
  18. "Of course he did!" says O'B!
  19. I guess we have different definitions of "interesting". In fact, I often drop by the game threads and participate until the tenor gets so negative I can't bear it any more. Then I drop out. I have no need to defend a team or it's players that's playing ~.700 baseball. Those things speak for themselves. Some folks just can't stand prosperity and have to find something to bitch about. I get enough of that in real life, thanks.
  20. while others just stay away from the game threads.
  21. Edit: 3 more words: Consider the source(s).
  22. Very true. But he's also not as good as some people make him out to be.
  23. I'm going to waffle on that question. Things tend to get judged on hindsight. I believe the only reason the Bagwell trade is viewed as being horrible is because the Sox didn't win the WS that year. If Anderson had pitched well and the Sox had ended up being WSC the Bagwell trade would be seen as being a necessary part of the championship - and worth it. OTOH, the reason "that other" trade is looked upon as being as good one is because the Sox won the WS that year. IMO if the Sox hadn't worn the WS that year more people would still be bemoaning the fact that that was the trade that necessitated acquiring Sandoval because the left side of the IF would have been set for years. Interesting (to me, anyway) is the fact that Iggy's crucial error helped to propel the Sox into the WS. Had that trade not been made it's entirely possible that the 2013 WSC wouldn't have happened. But that's totally unforeseeable in terms of the whether the trade was a good one.
  24. It's a Catch-22 about playing JDM in the OF during the playoffs. IMO the only time he should see outfield grass is in the WS is when he has to play because we're in the NL park, but his best OF position is probably LF in Fenway. And can we please not drool all over ourselves about his catch in RF last night? That catch was slightly more than routine for a "good" outfielder. He just made it harder than it was because of his lack of speed. I appreciate the effort he put into it and I'm glad he made the catch, but still.......
