  1. That’s more To hitting than the widely flawed batting average. Gallo had a bad 2022, but he is a good player very likely to be undervalued. He also scores will on at least one metric we know Bloom uses. There’s reasons to believe I am right here. Repeatedly saying “Gallo sucks” doesn’t change that Gallo is good. It just makes it look like you only know BA…
  2. Well if you love Renfroe, probably worth noting he’s a worse hitter for his career than the younger Gallo. Worse defender too. So if you actually hated that trade, you really shouldn’t mind Gallo…
  3. So in tonight’s game, they were talking about Zack Wheeler’s arsenal, and they should him throwing his 4 seamer, 2 seamer and slider all superimposed on to the same delivery so it looks like he is throwing 3 pitches at once. My wife saw this and sarcastically remarked “So is that how they’re going to speed up baseball next year?”
  4. Are you even remotely familiar with the career of Hunter Renfroe?
  5. 1. One would think as an admitted Bloom Critic, you’d welcome predictions that you found to be detrimental. 2. So now you’re telling people they can’t make predictions? WTF else is there to do between now and April? Tell you what, Commandant Red, why don’t you post your approved rules for topics this off-season?
  6. I do too, but Nimmo likely gets a QO, which costs the Sox two draft picks. Gallo isn’t even eligible for one…
  7. Jimmy the Greek? What’s your point? That people who aren’t that incompetent boob of an oddsmaker shouldn’t make predictions? Gallo’s BA was down last year, but he has a .351 OBP as recently as 2021. OBP is much more telling than batting average…
  8. He’s a very good defensive RF, which teams could use in Boston, as Fenway is very spacious there. Baseball isn’t all about batting averages. Also, since you clearly didn’t notice - THIS IS A PREDICTION . Not a wish list. See, a prediction is what I think will[ happen. A wish list is what I want to happen. Let me know if you need smaller words…
  9. Even with his elite walk rate, Gallo is all but a guarantee to struggle with OBP…
  10. Unless they noticed he already had them. Sale was hurt when he signed, which was probably why he signed such a short deal…
  11. I know Bloom values DRS with catchers. Near-acquisition Jacob Stallings and mid year acquisition Reese McGuire excelled at that metric. As does Gallo, where it makes him the second best right fielder in MLB, behind Betts…
  12. Agreed. Tell SP we’ve reached a decision..
  13. Well they’re wrong. also Wilyer Abreu might debut if needed…
  14. Not testing the market was quite possibly related to COVID. The Dodgers offered them same deal as the Sox, but two years longer. So either COVID made Betts re-prioritize or he just wanted out of Boston. I don’t think the Sox were going to be able to keep him either way. But I do wish DD had had the foresight to extend Devers and just ignored Sale…
  15. I put both of them on the 2023 MLB Debut List, along with Mata and Walter…
  16. My prospect sleeper next year is Jacob Wallace. I think he can crack the bullpen at some point next season…
  17. They wasn’t possible unless the Sox found another way under the cap. The big problem was after he failed to extend Betts, Dombrowski did extend Bogaerts and Sale, using up that portion of the money. Now if DD has just ignored Sale, maybe things would be different. Although there were also rumors Betts was adamant about testing the market…
  18. The funny thing is, DD may have become that guy. In Boston, he was all about big contracts and trading for big names. He brought us Price, Sale,Kimbrel, Martinez and gave every one of them nine figures with an AAV over $20mill. He traded away a slew of prospects, including 4 in the BA top 100. In Philly, he dialed down to the 8-figure 4 to 5 year deals. He kept his upper minors prospects. And for some reason, he ignored the bullpen altogether…
  19. A 6 year $24mill extension hardly qualifies as a risk. If White continues to flop, how exactly is he impacting payroll? One less middle reliever? Maybe a homegrown backup catcher?
  20. I have a very strong feeling I know who number 4 is going to be. But you’re not going to like it. (There’sa reason I’ve mentioned him on previous posts and they have n been met with much distaste. But I think a lot of people might need to start considering welcoming Joey Gallo to Boston. Possibly with an Adam Duvall platoon partner.)
  21. That’s because the Sox keep playing these games of building up to tax limits with free agents and then watching it all collapse so they can tear it down and do it all over. I think Henry would prefer his team be like Houston. Star wants too much money? Ok, bring in the next star…
  22. Well I helped you provide this link for all. I suppose it depends on the iPad. But my outdated one seems to C&P links just fine. Selecting text to copy is a specific skill that requires the same dexterity level as open heart surgery, however…
  23. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2022/10/dave-dombrowski-on-red-sox-firing-i-dont-think-i-was-treated-right-report.html I’m on a cell phone and I copied it…
  24. True. Although bear in mind, Tatis is 23 years old and has 12 years left on that deal. Are we always labeling it a bust? Is that even an option being considered already?
  25. That’s absolutely an option. Smarter teams are locking up younger players when they’re in the first three years, before arbitration money kicks in…
