  1. Maintain the offense. Improve the pitching. Improve the defense…
  2. They tried once already. But they wanted X to change positions (the Padres currently have 5 MLB shortstops already on the roster) and Bogie balked…
  3. I imagine both are on the radar. But - settle for them as opposed to who? The only SPs off the board so far are Verlander, deGrom, Tyler Anderson and Kyle Gibson…
  4. Estevez is off the board and on to Anaheim. 2 years $13.5 million I’m a little disappointed there. Fulmer, Rogers, Jansen remain top relief arms left. Hopefully the Sox get one..
  5. But Turner gets 5 extra points for Sliding Smoothness. I might need ore “o”’s in that word. And Correa loses 5 for thumping. First on his chest, and then on trash cans…
  6. But they might have looked at 2020 and thought “should we be committing $10mill over 2 years here?” And that would explain why the Sox paid $3mill…
  7. That’s not the secret you think it is…
  8. 1. They certainly have more insight than us on the subject. 2. It’s very possible they “knew” he was gone because they knew he would want a contract they never felt he’d be worth…
  9. We all like to think we know what X would have signed for, but he didn’t hire Super Agent Scott Boras to come up with contract figures equal to the ones dreamed up by unwashed web forum hillbillies like us…
  10. Disagree. The Sox will outbid other teams for an impact player and then you will deny said player is an impact player…
  11. Presumably to get more back. It also didn’t help that the 2020 Benintendi that they traded did look like he he’s as never played baseball before…
  12. That certainly makes their team interesting. Their two best prospects are shortstops and their current OF is Harrison Bader, Aaron Hicks, and Anybody’s Guess…
  13. Every GM makes bad deals. Show me a GM who’s never made a bad trade or authored a bad contract, and I’ll show you a GM who isn’t active enough…
  14. So do you think the Rangers - who won 10 fewer games than Boston and finished 38 games behind Houston - were ready to go for it?
  15. If the Sox can’t get Bogaerts back or move on to Correa, Elvis Andrus is probably a much wiser move than Swanson, all things considered…
  16. “It takes two to lie. One to lie and one to listen.” - Homer Simpson
  17. I disagree
  18. Yes. But once that money was committed to Sale, there was no chance of re-opening negotiations with Betts…
  19. If i were allowed to pick the GM from anyone on this board, I wouldn’t pick you. But I would let you fire whoever I picked…
  20. I’d be awful, as I can be too impulsive and I’m easily swayed…
  21. Isn’t that what I said?
  22. I thought at the time Middlebrooks tripped him up on purpose…
  23. Offense was not the primary reason for last year’s disappointing season…
  24. Most of that damage came from an awful 2019, where he had -9.6 RngR. Outside of that season, he’s league-average for Range…
  25. The Sox lost Betts when Dombrowski signed Sale. Bogaerts is a tough call for me, since the bat plays, but the glove doesn’t, and the player refuses to change positions (so far). If some team gives Bogaerts $216mill over 8, the Sox probably dodged a bullet…
