  1. Unless Pedroia is the next Kinsler. Kinsler got injured and had a .604OPS. I think at the very least, we can get that from Pedroia...
  2. So you think the Sox can't beat the Dodgers, but should walk all over a team that can?
  3. Smith's chances of being offered arbitration and making the Sox next season are only slightly better than my chances. And Thornburg isn't a lock to be tendered an offer either...
  4. I wouldn't say it's a good chance. But he is another option...
  5. .. was traded to the Nationals today for bonus pool money. I thought teams were not supposed to make deals during the post-season so as to not draw attention away from the games still being played...
  6. Kershaw in pinstripes. Book it...
  7. Agreed. And the Sox will still have Holt, Nunez and Lin backing up in the infield. If Pedroia is actually healthy, he is going to get every chance to take back his position. If he isn't, maybe they fill it mid-year like they did this season...
  8. Nobody wants revenge more than JD Martinez. This is the team that released him...
  9. Silly thread Of course Price is starting. If he isn't, who are you going to go with?
  10. And while Timlin was hot in the playoffs, the bullpen for most of that season was a bit of a disaster...
  11. In honor of Toe Knee Arm Ass, we need a Body Parts list for baseball names. I'll throw 2 out there. Bartolo Colon Barry Foote (a personal favorite name that should have been in this thread before now)...
  12. How about something immodest? Like every time an umpire has his call overturned, a live piranha gets stuffed down his pants?
  13. Was Wright disabled during the ALDS? That does appear to be an important word there. I think that rule was put in place to prevent/penalize teams from "disabling" ineffective pitchers mid-series in order to bolster their bullpen depth. But if the pitcher was injured before the series and left off the roster, that seem entirely different to me...
  14. It would seem odd to bench Holt tonight...
  15. Porcello has made 4 starts against the Yankees this year. One was a 2 IP, 0ER outing at the end of the season that is worth ignoring. He did get pasted onece for 5 ER in 5.1 IP. That was his only real start i Yankee Stadium. his other 2 starts at Fenway were spectacular outings - 16 IP, 1ER - including a complete game one hitter. If he pitches like that, the crowd might be out of the game quickly...
  16. Given his health history, it would not be a surprise of the Sox passed on him...
  17. And really, to every team. A great post-season for Eovaldi (which he is off to a good start on) increases his value overall to every team and makes him that much more difficult to re-sign...
  18. WE know the series is not over. But it certainly was not over after the Sox lost 1 game, too...
  19. It doesn’t need to be all hands on deck yet. This isn’t an elimination game. Why go giving away game 4 in order to clinch game 3?
  20. “ Betts needs to get it going ‘MVP-style
  21. For all the attention paid to players like Trout, Harper, Judge, and Betts, Alex Bregman is quietly becoming one of the best players in baseball...
  22. It’s like that old George Will quote. “ The beauty of being a pessimist is you are constantly either proven correct or pleasantly surprised.”
  23. I do? I found no fault with the umpire and every fault with Price. You can’t argue he got squeezed when he grooved an 0-2 pitch. And his walks to Gardner and Torres were simply bad pitching. Hopefully he gets another chance against Cleveland or Houston and gets better...
  24. While his W-L record says otherwise, Porcello did pitch very well against the Yankees this year in 4 starts...
  25. Huh? That home plate umpire last night was about as good as it gets. The only calls he “missed” per the K Zone were about as marginal as it gets. And when you remember his job entails trying to determine if a 95 mph pitch passed even partially through an imaginary box that’s maybe 7 or 8 cubic feet in volume and do so in a mere second or two, I’d say his performance last night was outstanding. Price got “screwed over” because he threw an 0-2 pitch right down the middle to Judge and because he foolishly walked the 8 and 9 hitters back to back...
