  1. Catcher is defense. CF and SS are the next most important positions for it. If you think CF offense only matters a little, JBJ is certainly capable of a little offense, as history has shown...
  2. He’s getting paid the same regardless of where he is. If the Sox need to add an outfielder and it costs more than 40% of the taxable amount, it makes sense to just add Castillo. And it also might slightly increase chances of moving him...
  3. If anyone was sold on Larkin’s after his 2 career IP, I wouldn’t take them very serious. But there are still available options and money might not be a limiting factor. Kimbrel? Bud Norris?
  4. I think Castillo is probably a better outfielder than Holt...
  5. Coupled with defense, he’s not the bottom. From 2016-2018, he accrued 10.2 fWAR, which was 7th among MLB center fielders. He ranked 4th in the defense component in that time, behind Kiermeier, Hamilton and Pillar. And only 0.1 behind Pillar. None of Kiermeier, Hamilton, nor Pillar had a higher fWAR overall than Bradley...
  6. Injured.
  7. Ok how about “he might be better than Colten Brewer has been”?
  8. But he’s really all the Sox have for outfield depth unless they bite the financial bullet and add Rusney to the roster. I also like Cole Sturgeon, but I don’t think he’s going to be added any time soon...
  9. He might be better than Colten Brewer...
  10. What’s wrong with Crisp and Pillar?
  11. I have a feeling this pen will look drastically different at some point...
  12. Or — Gorkys Time!!!
  13. I’m not even sure who the admins are, besides YOTN. And I’m actually not even sure about him. It’s one thing to complain about Yankee trolls. I tried posting on a Yankee board once was back on ESPN with a comment that was critical of a player but explicitly baseball-related. And I found myself immediately banned for failure to perform Pinstriped Fellatio. Ever since then, I’m all for banning blatant Yankee trolls. But complaining about Sox posters or even respectable yet misguided Yankee fans? It’s a Red Sox board! It’s incomplete without some Yankee presence! And I am ok with all Sox fans, whether I agree with them or not... S
  14. That sounds like Porcello’s problem...
  15. Or took Nunez. Kennedy is owed $16.5mill next season as well...
  16. I Can we get Bolt?
  17. Devers and Chatham for Merrifield and the contract of Kennedy? Cesar Hernandez of Philadelphia is another underrated 2b who might be available if the Phillies decide Scott Kingery needs to play everyday once he gets off the IL...
  18. But “eye test” from fans who primarily watch one team have merit? Go to a Rays board and tell them how unimpressed you were with Keirmaier. Think they will agree?
  19. I Even if the Sox avoided all the available closers - which they did - that doesn’t mean you have to avoid every major league relief pitcher in the market. There were plenty of good non-closer’s available. And some still are...
  20. The thought makes me smile...
  21. I’m a former BDC alum. No need for the clandestine identification. I’ll out myself...
  22. And a bit of sarcasm. The Sox won’t bring back Hanley unless he is holding DD’s children for ransom. And even then probably only on a minor league deal...
  23. Maybe they simply want Hernandez to continue to develop as a starter?
  24. Oh mal. One of you DH’s is on the IL and neither of them even have a positive OPS+. Not much for a designated “hitter”...
