  1. I am 100% League-wide DH. I’d be against it if I thought pitchers took hitting seriously. But since it doesn’t look like they do, just get another bat in there for every team. The whole “changes the strategy” is actually a pretty dead argument, as it has been superseded by other strategies...
  2. Well, there are three negatives. 1) Restgate. No idea if Henry and Co. weigh this as heavily as many fans. 2) A dismal 2019 season. 3) New GM. Sometimes those new guys want their fingerprints on everything, just in case it works. Cora is clearly very popular, but that doesn’t mean Roenicke isn’t. Bloom might want his own guy. While a lot of Sox fans think Grady Little was fired solely due to game 7 of the ALCS, that’s pretty unlikely. The bigger factor was probably Theo wanting his own guy. It’s not like Grady had a bad track record in Boston. You can probably win some drinks by asking Sox fans in bars (whatever they are) which Sox manager had a higher winning percentage - Grady Little or Terry Francona? (Little’s .580 edges out Francona’s .574.) But Little was brought in by Mike Port. I’d be surprised if that wasn’t a factor...
  3. While we are admittedly in rarely navigated waters, have you EVER heard of any team doing something like that? In any sport? Fire the manager/head coach, then bring him back and demote his replacement? Cora isn’t the first manager to be suspended in any sport. But I can’t think of a precedent for your prediction. Or a reason...
  4. It depends how fair of a chance Roenicke gets. They did deal him a bad hand if he is to get judged on one season...
  5. I can’t see it as committed one way or the other. The Sox did fire Cora very quickly, and for something he did prior to coming to Boston. Is there more to that story?
  6. Assuming the front office is still enamored with Cora. Roenicke’s case can only be helped by less baseball. If he has to try to get 100 games in with that rotation in a ten team division, with no Chris Sale and a questionable bullpen, his head will be on the chopping block through no fault of his own...
  7. If Boston wants him, they also could have just let him serve his suspension rather than firing him prior to any investigation of their own team...
  8. If they take 4 from 3 divisions, that’s already 12 teams. Currently they only take 10. Taking 18 teams could take the postseason into January...
  9. Unless you count the 673 games he managed for the Brewers...
  10. I need more coffee...
  11. Well, the Sox came in third in a five team division last year, so finishing sixth in a ten team one seems roughly equal....
  12. So you like the Sox (without Sale) over the Mets (without Syndergaard)?
  13. Hey they removed the “Interim” from his title. There’s a chance he’s very good. Name one other manager who has had ZERO complaints from fans on April 29!
  14. Can we give Ron Roenicke one week first?
  15. “MonsterQuest” might have been the best show to tackle these topics. They did all the customary interviews, gathered the evidence, and strung everyone along for 55 minutes. And then they presented the audience with the findings of their scientific testing and disproved everything, returning us all to a far less colorful world...
  16. I tried it, too. I prefer some level of skepticism in my shows about inexplicable phenomena. Ancient Aliens isn’t as outwardly stupid and over the top as Finding Bigfoot, but they do blatantly lie and they sometimes completely skip over incredibly obvious explanations...
  17. Shall I start the thread? Although my fear is you and Bellhorn will just let it deteriorate into Ancient Aliens fanboy talk...
  18. No. That’s when it’s closest....
  19. I know it seems weird, but the Earth is actually at it's furthest point from the sun in July...
  20. Patriots signed Michigan State QB Brian Lewerke.
  21. If you're in Phoenix, you should probably never leave he house anyway. First, as you said, it's insanely hot out there. And second, since every building in Arizona looks exactly the same, it becomes very difficult to find your own house once you've left it...
  22. OK. But the volume thing and the wind thing are still true...
  23. Are you knocking the best team name ever - the Rocket City Trash Pandas!?!?
  24. When outside, social distancing should be less important. Inside, the spread of any viral discharge is limited to the volume of whatever room you're in. Outside, no such limitations exist. And other elements like wind can come into play and be a bigger factor than being 6 feet away...
