  1. Well, no soft tossing type tonight.
  2. Don't know about Light. 17 walks and 21 hits in 31 innings at Pawtucket. Lot's of walks last year as well. Sox need a lefty specialist. Don't know what your definition of struggle is. Abad since the break 5 games, 5 1/3 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 3 Ks. All five appearances were a minimum of 1 inning. I can live with that.
  3. Saw something about Pat Light; if so, a good deal IMO
  4. Right now, Hanigan does 3 things for the club: 1 - He is allowing both Leon and Vazquez to catch 4/6 or 5/7 times a week. If Vazquez were up, either he or Leon gets the 2. Vazquez needs to play every day to work on his hitting, and the way Leon is going right now, that would change in Boston. 2 - He catches Porcello and for whatever reason, that combo is working. And as Crash Davis said, "If you believe you're playing well because you're getting laid, or because you're not getting laid, or because you wear women's underwear, then you *are*!" 3 - He attempts to catch Wright, which has to be like trying to catch a double header and so it keeps Leon fresher. Put whatever value you want on any of them. The first has a lot of value IMO. My guess is come September, Vazquez comes back up and Hanigan will be reduced to catching only Porcello (unless that magic ends).
  5. We know he was out with flu-like symptoms during the Detroit series. It's possible that it's still affecting him a little, and let's face it, when you are already that borderline on your talent/performance, it doesn't take much to make you look completely awful. But something is still wrong. Earlier in the year, even when he was making out, he would usually make the pitcher work a little (foul off a bunch, make the guy throw 6-7 or more pitches). Now it's almost 3 and out. every time
  6. There's one out, first batter grounded out to second.
  7. A ground out is an ominous start?
  8. Let's hope Ziegler had time to warm up.
  9. Excellent point by OB there. Farrell getting out there quickly kept Pedey in the game because Dustin was about 2 syllables away from spending the rest of the game in the clubhouse.
  10. Don't kid yourself. Farrell is right there out of sight. Only thing I can think of is Shaw is dinged up somehow and they wanted Leon to have the whole day off. The first I'll buy, the second is dumb given the circumstances. As OB and Lyons said, there are things that go on in the clubhouse that we aren't told about.
  11. Yeah, that is a legit criticism of whoever ... If not Shaw, why not Leon?
  12. And the sad thing is the pitching has given them a good chance in 3 games and a so-so chance last night
  13. Maybe they need to sacrifice a chicken?
  14. First thing they need to do is stop trying to hit 5 run homers on every swing.
  15. Been that way since I was listening to Tiant vs. Ryan 40+ years ago.
  16. How many perfectly placed soft hits can the Angels get? Twins did it last weekend as well.
  17. This is a depressing, s***** series.
  18. Read that as a concession to waive the no-trade, he wanted the Guardians to tear up the 2017 club option in his contract (which would now allow him to become a free agent adfter this year). The Guardians said no for obvious reasons. If they still want him, they are going to have to part with major $ upfront.
  19. Hopefully it won't matter. Price would kill for a couple of these runs.
  20. I was looking at the single season list but the career list proabably reflects the same names for the reasons you said.
  21. The top 50 list is littered with Hall of Famers and other really good players. Yaz is on there. Bobby Doerr. Dave Winfield, Brooks Robinson, Ernie Lombardi, Harmon Killebrew. Pujols is on the list as is AGon, Vlad Guerrero, Pudge Rodriguez.
  22. All I'm pointing out is the decision to play Hill (and Hanley) wasn't just pulled out of the air. And you STILL haven't answered the question, which one are you sitting so that Shaw can play?
  23. You know what they call the guy who holds the major league record for most DPs hit into in a season? Hall of Famer. It's #14, Jim Rice. (He actually holds the top 2 spots on the list, 3 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 20)
  24. Hill is 11-22 (now 12-24) career against Lincecum. Think that might be the reason he's at 3rd tonight? Hanley came in 9-27 againt Lincecum (now 9-30). Which one are you going to sit? You know, sometimes managers make decisions with stats that the average fan doesn't have.
