  1. Didn’t we see this start last year?
  2. Which if the Mets ss has played it correctly it would have been.
  3. Did you see that MLB has decided that the Yankees get to play the Orioles instead of the Phillies the next two nights. They get their favorite whipping boys 12 times now instead of 10.
  4. True, but the pitching has been better tonight than the past 3 games. Not great, but better.
  5. Let’s not pretend the pitchers have been rocked this evening. Hall gives up a ground ball single to where the 2nd baseman traditionally plays. Cespedes gets hit by a pitch that just nicks his elbow gear. Yes, Cano hit the ball hard. The walk hurt because it was followed by that jam shot blooped into right. Brice gives up the doink off the Pesky Pole. The Mets dont have a lot of hard hit balls tonight, but they’ve hit balls in perfect spots.
  6. It is amazing how many Pesky Pole homers the opposition gets each year. The Sox seem to get 1 or 2 a year.
  7. Played right by the Mets, that could have easily been a triple play if there were no outs.
  8. Shows how dumb you are; the play got the Sox a run. The Mets’ ss blew it by not 1) not tagging Beni and then stepping on the base or 2) touching the bag and making the easy throw to first to double up Devers.
  9. Actually a smart play by Beni. He knew the ball wasn’t caught; he messed up the Mets by going. All they had to do was make the toss to first to complete the DP. He got the Sox one anyway.
  10. As Eck said, he’ll learn.
  11. Even offensively challenged teams have guys who can hurt you. Conforto and Alonso are 2 of the best young power hitters in the game (Alonso might be the best power hitter period). Offensively challenged teams can't string together 5-6 hits in a row, but they can hit homers. What the Mets did was hit multi-run homers. All of the Sox homers this year have been solo. Any pitcher will tell you they really don't care about giving up solo homers; they don't hurt you any worse than 3 singles, and in fact are probably better since once the guy crosses the plate, you start clean with no one on base.
  12. Yes, but it doesn't matter whether you buy into it; it matters if the player buys into it. The modest offensive success Bradley has had over his 7 big league seasons has come at the bottom of the line-up. When he has moved up, the results have been very poor (admittedly SSS).
  13. So? All the guys who went to college hit in the top half of the line-up there. The college players who hit at the bottom don't get drafted.
  14. Manfred is supposedly meeting with all the club owners right now (meeting was scheduled to start at 12:30 Eastern per CBSSports). So there may be some resolution as early as this afternoon.
  15. Not surprising since they are not physically at Fenway, but in the NESN studios. They probably don’t see a lot more than we do, and unlike us, they are not used to judging things from the sound of a tv feed.
  16. He was just being his usual snarky self.
  17. Nice play by Santander. Ain’t our day folks.
  18. Agree; long reliever used in early blow out type games. If he holds the other team, fine. If he doesn’t, so what.
  19. Has to be the other way around. The pitching has to give the O a chance. They’ll hit but you can’t count on scoring 8 every game. Pitching has to keep it to 4 runs or so.
  20. That was ball 4, 6 inches off the ground and a bit away. How the hell do you pull that on a line into the seats?
  21. 3 runs in 12 innings isn’t going to do it against anybody. Worse, 2 of the 3 are solo homers. No sequential offense that keeps pressure on a pitcher.
  22. I was about to ask if LeBlanc pitched a game a couple years ago where he completely shutdown the Sox in Seattle but the NESN crew answered that one.
  23. Really only the one bad pitch to Ruiz. Iglesias hit a real good pitch down and away and there was a perfect bunt.
  24. Can you put that in layman’s terms please?
  25. Cobb was very good today; looked a lot like he did in Tampa a few years ago and the few balls the Sox hit hard went right at people. It's baseball. Perez looked horrible for 2 and then settled down pretty well. From what Eck said, that's been a nasty pattern with him through spring and summer camps. Benintendi just needs to go up there and attack; that's when he's at his best. He's being too patient and falling behind. Betts could do that, Beni can't. Devers will come around; i'm not worried about him. Again folks, why is it a guy goes 0-10 to start the year and it's panic city; he does the same thing in games 40 and 41 and it's just a short slump.
